Nurse Chapel and Vina release date?

Hey all, I'm new to the whole Mego/EMCE world and was drawn in with the lovely prototypes of Nurse Chapel and Vina. Just a couple questions...not sure if anyone can help but figured this was the best place to ask.

I recently dropped a couple hundred dollars getting a decent collection of the Star Trek retro figures and am about to spend some more on some of the aliens to army-build plus I'll need another Uhura to make a custom Orion.

Does anyone have any info on if/when these two ladies are coming out? I know its been a while since they were first revealed because of licensing or other reasons but I've heard thats resolved and Pike and the Salt Vampire are tooled with a release date of June? Has there been any indication that Chapel and Vina are also tooled?

I know in one of the Ask DSTs they said that they were taking the line on a series-by-series basis but I'm not sure if they consider Pike/Salt Vampire/Chapel/Vina to be one series (like the first 6 were series one and the next 8 were series 2) or if the production of the ladies depends on how well the Pike wave sells....which would mean the ladies are a long way off.

I have seen a release date of August for these girls which would mean they are probably in production but I was curious if anyone knew for sure? DST is notorious for showing all kinds of prototypes and never coming through.

I really want my Nurse Chapel and at least 3 Orion girls (probably end up getting 4).

actually, these are the Noah's ark of the re-mego movement! they were always released in sets of 2
    Kirk and Klingon
    Spock and Andorian
    Mc Coy and Romulan
    Scotty and Keeper
    Uhura and Mutago
    Checkov and Cheron
    Sulu and Gorn
Khan was a stand alone exclusive.
I may have the sets out of order and mixed up, but that's because i bought them as they were release, and have had them wahile

so Salt Vampire and Pike are the next set, though I thought it was originally Vena and Pike, then Chapel and the Salt Vampire.... I hope and pray i get them all.

Last I heard Chapel and Vina were on hold, due to low retailer
interest. That may change in the future. I hope so.

Given how rough the past year or so has been for retailers,
and that the new Trek movie did not create "trekmania", it
may be some time before the ladies are in production.

I'd imagine the girls would be hot sellers. This surprises me.
...the new Trek movie did not create "trekmania"...
I blame Playmates' shoddy sculpts and odd costuming choices for a lot of that. People want McCoy (f.ex.) in his uniform, not his cadet outfit. It wasn't the property that failed, but poor execution and oversaturation of poor product.

Female figures usually sell less so they should have matched them up with male or aliens rather than together.

and that joke of a movie trashed 45 years of Trek history, so they shouldn't expect Trekmania!

I was really looking forward to Chapel and Vina, I hope they find their ways to my collection. I am not really excited about Pike, would rather have a Chapel. The Star Trek line seems to be dragging, it has been some time between releases.

Seriously - comic shops are closing down left and right - they are usually
mom and pop stores that cater to a very small audience, mostly male.

Those shops that still survive are looking for solid sellers and while female
characters are very collectible, you have a harder time selling them than any
male character like Sulu or Spock.

As the economy recovers, some of the bigger players in the collectibles
business may take another look at doing an exclusive like Vina.

You just can't go wrong with a hot looking green chick.

I really wanted Vina. It's too bad she wasn't paired with a more popular character. Nothing against Chapel but she realistically just isn't as popular as the main cast or aliens and I could see her becoming a serious peg warmer.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Nurse Chapel was one of the main characters, she was in several episodes and involved in the story lines. I really hope to see Chapel and Vina produced, time will tell. Dr. Mego says to wait until San Diego. I am still holding out hope.

Thanks for the news even if it isnt great. I was nervous the ladies would be in trouble.

I think pairing up Vina with Pike and the salt vampire with Chapel (wasnt that the original plan?) would've been better. Vina and Pike were in the same episode so that just made a lot more sense.

Nurse Chapel would make a nice exclusive...Vina would sell more and would make a better general release...plus I need 3-4 of her and exclusives can be a pain to get sometimes.

I guess I'll just hope for the best.

I wanted Nurse Chapel and Vina (isn't this Yvonne Craig?). I didn't buy most of the EMCE Star Trek except some of the Aliens but those 2 I really wanted. Uhura's been the only Trek chick and she needs a friend.

Yvonne Craig played Marta, while Susan Oliver played Vina. Marta was a bit kookier, being a total psycho criminal.

Even if the female characters are a tough sell, "Mirror Mirror" bridge crew or Kirk in his different tops should be easy sells, the remaining few Mego aliens, Kirk and Spock in their pilot shirts...a cue should really be taken from DST's Star Trek line. They had a great variety with minimal new tooling. Did what was produced really perform so badly that there's so little support? I'm hoping SDCC will have a number of big reveals. It seems a shame that the line has slowed down so. What happened?
