Is that the one on Route 9? I did my Circuit City Managers training back in '98 up there. I walked to the Toys R Us from the Best Western that was up the road a ways. I came home with some McFarlane stuff at the time that was super hard to find...they had a lot of hard stuff to find in that Toys R Us.

And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

Was in my TRU today and all I saw was Lex and Sinestro still. They did get Wave 3 in once for certain (I bought Flash and Capt. Cold), but they could've gotten more and sold since I was last there as I only get up there once a month or so. The problem is what it always is...these assinine "store exclusives!" You hear the EXACT same complaints about Target with the Mattel JLU line. These toy companies need to realize that peddling your wares in only one store in an area of commerce instead of several stores in the same area is obviously going to limit your sales. It's a bad idea from a marketing standpoint as well as a consumer standpoint. Just create a toy line and ship it to every store that stocks toys...just like Mego did. Simple. Then people might actually have a fighting chance to reach into their wallet and give Mattel some cash. It's at a point, with both the TRU-only Retro line and the Target-only JLU line, that the consumers have to all but beg Mattel to take our cash. It's wholly ridiculous and as much as I like finding toys in the wild, the gas wasted driving from store-to-store to look at empty pegs makes it cheaper to just buy online.Comment

This was posted today by Mattel (for what it's worth):
Question. We didn’t see anything new for the DC Retro-Action figures at Toy Fair. Is that it for the line or will we see it continue either at retail or on MattyCollector.com?
Answer by Mattel. There are more coming, we are just a bit behind on shipping and want to wait until we catch up before revealing more product.Last edited by geoffdude; Mar 16, '11, 9:50 PM.Comment

Okay, that's better. God, it's getting harder and harder to keep my mouth shut waiting for the official word. It's been so difficult biting my lip every time I hear "I don't see new stuff -- the line must be dead!"
So, there it is. There is more stuff coming, we're still working on stuff, but things that are frankly out of our control and (even more frankly) beyond our realm of understanding are clearly impacting what we all expected to be a continuous flow into TRU. So, straight from the horse's mouth, they're clearly playing catch-up with a lot of things before putting the new stuff out there.Comment

I was going to chime in that I don't think it's TRU. Now that Meijer is in the mix, it seems pretty obvious to me that there are delays in getting product. I believe both places are just waiting on their orders to come in. My wife managed a Meijer back in the day, and she said they avoid empty pegs at all costs.Comment

I can now full well blame it on the WWE toys. Jakks did the same thing plenty of new WWE but no dragonball or UFC stuff anywhere. I know those toys are a cash crop, but come on.Comment

Wave 3 is appearing in many TRU's....I have seen them in many stores...wave 2 is gone from TRU....they had them at the expresses for a short time and that was it"Thats the ticket laddie"Comment

Our TRU never got wave 2. When I asked the employee a couple weeks ago, he said the reason they weren't getting the new waves in was that they had the same SKU #or something, and that until they sell the rest of what was on the pegs (Sinestro and Lex) they wouldn't receive any future waves. Just 2 weeks later I stopped in and saw some picked over leftovers from wave 3 sitting there. I was really surprised.Comment

Toys r us has gotten horrible at carrying new toys, My friend used to work at our flagship store, he said, the managers were not all compitant. people used to come in all the times asking for some kids stuff based on yabba gabba something , they had them once, and once only, he said that people asked for things from this show all the time, and that one time they did get things in, it sold our in a day. yet they would get in Star trek Peg warmers by thge box full, and these things were not selling. He could not understand this nor did some other workers. I have given up, with getting things from them. I have found that they are chargeing to much, Target and Walmarts are cheaper. and manhattan comic stores are also charging less for most of the items that toys r us should have gotten. I even found that the diff on some things can be from 50 cents to one dollar per item. So, it it easier to pay 50 cents more to a dollar, then go through all the hassles of finding them at a toys r us. What do you all think? Am I the only one? let me know, I would like to know your output on this.Last edited by MEMEGO; Mar 17, '11, 9:30 AM.Comment

Price is a volume issue. Walmart has more than 2500 stores in the US alone. There are over 1200 Target stores as well. There are less than 600 TRU stores. So distribution and pricing will be significantly different because these companies would be buying considerably more, especially if they were store exclusives. So the wholesale price would be alot less.Comment
