Well the package finally arrived! I had to wait for my daughter to get out of school before it could be opened. She specifically told me no opening the Darkseid without her present.
So.....I just opened it up and I am impressed with the whole thing.
Mattel could have gone with a Brock Sampson body with a set of beefy legs but they chose not.
For some reason they decided that using a regular new body and padding the heck out of suit would work. When I first heard that I thought there was no way this would work out and then I finally got to see this Darkseid up close and personal and it works.
From a viewer's stand point (me) I really enjoyed the precise areas along with the vinyl gloves that add just the right amount of bulk to give him a "big guy" look.
Standing at eight inches with his padded gear and bulky gloves and boots I think Mattel did a great job on this.

The head is pretty dead on along with Darkseid's Retro 80s look.

Of course the curiosity killed the cat (no pun intended) and some of you had asked me to remove the padded suit to prove that there is nothing but a regular gray body under here.
Whatever you do if you purchase this figure do not remove this costume. You'll need a map just to get it back on him without ripping the seems. The only reason I did it was because the question was asked.
Here you have it...

Overall with what went into the design and the layout of this DC Retro Action Darkseid. The whole figure surprisingly gets a 9 out of 10. I am really impressed about the whole thing. The only serious downfall is the lack of when it comes to these new waves making it to the Toys 'R Us stores where they were promised to be.
Ebay looks like the only place I can go for these sadly.
