    Ebay now selling Retro Shazam

Apparently some sellers have the Shazam figure now. But all pics are of the prototype.

I asked for an updated picture. What I can tell from the ToyFair shots, is the neck has been shortened, but the head is the same sculpt. What makes it look different is the paint on the mouth and eyes. Once again, we might have another example of what an improved paint job can do for a sculpt...I think. We'll see. I can't rule out the Scooby-Doo orgasm expression until I see a close up. Fingers still crossed.

He looks much better to me in this pic Tom. I really disliked the head on the prototype and it was my only complaint about Wave 4 but looking at this pic, it looks much, much better. Not as goofy looking at all.

NICE BLOW UP LOU! I haven't seen him that close. Is the mouth different or did they simply paint it badly on the prototype? On the prototype, it appeared only one side of his mouth opened. The eyes are definitely painted better so he doesn't look zoned out. If this is the final product, I give it a thumbs up. It fits that classic image of Shazam without looking campy. It works. Well done guys. I'm liking it. Whew...That's a relief.

Yeah Tom, I think he looks superb with that head. The proto did seem like he had some stupid grin and weird eyes. This one looks outstanding!!!

                Here's a side-by-side:

                -The eyebrows look different
                -The eyes look different
                -The mouth looks different
                -Neck looks shortened

Excellent post Lou! Yep. That pretty much sums it up. I would have a better determination of the overall sculpt if I had a straight on shot of the factory one compared against the prototype. The paints on the prototype are very different with regards to the eyes and brow. That plays a big role in his appearance. The mouth... I can't quite tell. That's a forced angle with the new one, so it reads different. But at any rate, it reads a lot better now whether it was fine tuning the existing sculpt or simply changing the paints. And your right, they definitely shortened the neck.

I'm a huge Shazam fan, but I have a hard time pushing the BIN button for 26 dollars plus shipping. I still cannot wrap my mind around why these are not in TRU's. No excuse works.

I also gotta say this figure really looks great. I think it's the same head, just a much different paint app. I want this wave badly, but not at those prices. Being forced into getting these from ebay or online in general defies the spirit upon which this deal was brokered with Mattel.

                        I agree with you.

Now let's cue to the "Hey old man, there's this thing called the Internet blah blah blah" responses. Yeah, we know.
