Yeah.. he's got a perfect costume... and head.... he may even stand well too?

I'd complain about the "shiny" belt but unlike gold clothing accents ... SILVER actually "pops"... the contrast works for silver replacing gray
as opposed to gold replacing yellow.

The belt on the Proto looks shiny but on the production one in the package it seems gray-er to match his sleeves and pants. Over-all a well executed figure.

Cool! That's just icing on the cake.

I can't wait to get one.

I've been slowly replacing even the BEST of my customs that
are now characters that MATTEL has now manufactured with
actual factory made figures and DARKSEID is the very
first figure/character that will be entirely new to my collection... so that's
                pretty neat.

This is the only Darkseid figure I've ever liked well enough to buy! I've gotten mine already and am really happy with it. I've learned the production figures of these always look so much better than the prototypes

So I guess the padded suit option didn't come out so bad?

I was (and may still be) a big-time hater of the padded suit. I haven't received mine yet but should soon. By the pictures, he looks better than I thought, but I'm holding judgement until I hold him and pose him in my own grubby little hands.
That said, I'd be lying if I said Darkseid wasn't the guy I was most looking forward to in this line.
This retro action line has had me more excited than I have been for a toy line in a long, long time. Keep them coming Paul. Padded or not.

This might be the best looking retro yet...until Guy Gardner comes out.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

I think the Retro line has caught a new wave of enthusiasm that is going to run for a while. I'm soaking in the fact we are actually in a better period for collecting eight inch lines than what we were in the mid 70's. Mego never put out characters this fast. Especially with the Superheroes. This is great stuff.
