John Stewart Retro Action

I'm not familiar with this character. I thought this thread was about the host of The Daily show. This is the first ReMego in the DC line I have no interest in. -
Not ridiculous Brian. As Megoheads we want to "collect 'em all" so when a figure that you despise is introduced to a line, it kind of stinks because there's no way in hell I'm spending $20 on another GL with a different head. Besides, "outrage" is a bit dramatic. "Displeased" is a more apt description of my emotions my friend.Last edited by LOU; Jan 18, '11, 10:39 AM.Leave a comment:

I was expecting a modern look John Stewart (Justice League Unlimited) so this threw me at first. When I saw the comic page above to give me proper context, he looks perfect for that time period.Leave a comment:

Ahhh I see, so he did initially have the same costume as Hal. Thanks for the info. Still, to me I'd be paying $20 for a Green Lantern costume with a different head. I'd forgotten there were going to be those GL exclusives with the yellow Sinestro. I guess as long as he's not part of the retail assortments I'm happy. I'm definitely ignoring that GL set though but it'll probably sell like hotcakes to others. I have Hal and I have Sinestro so personally I'm done with Green Lantern in my set. Didn't someone say the packaging may be different for the GL exclusives as opposed to the rest of the Retros? I thought I remember that mentioned somewhere.Leave a comment:

No outrage from me...I just think John Stewart is the most boring GL ever. Definitely a waste of Plastic.Leave a comment:

I totally love it. This was the original Stewart outfit, and it looks GREAT on 'im.

I believe he is an exclusive. There is a write-up in this month's Toyfare (that I've only skimmed thru). Stewart looks great. He'll fit right in with the rest of the figures.Leave a comment:

which isn't what Stewart's GL wore anyway is it?
Stewart wore that suit in his first appearance in GL/GA No. 87, I believe, and when he took over the title around issue 183 in the mid 1980s.
Not sure when John's costume first varied from the original, probably in the GL Mosaic series or possibly in Cosmic Odyssey mini series.
But, I get your point. This is not the version of John Stewart that most know from the JLU TV show.
I like the retro versions, but It might have been a wiser move for Mattel to go with more current versions of the character.Leave a comment:

The mini fro makes the difference between me wanting this figure and not. And I will also probably pick up an extra one for a custom. And the uniform won't even go to waste because I'll find someone to wear it.Leave a comment:

I like it. And if he's an exclusive, it means he's not clogging up the shelves at TRU and taking a figure from a regular assortment, like say Robin.
I dig the 'fro too.

I really like this guy. I can't wait to get my hands on a couple so I can put one in his Black Lightning costume:-)Leave a comment:

I'll take one of those chill pills Jim if you have extra!!This is not a custom???!! WHY a Jon Stewart GL?? Why? Why? Why? Absolutely terrible character selection and a poor excuse to recylcle the existing GL outfit, which isn't what Stewart's GL wore anyway is it? There's just too many DC Universe characters that need to be made before they start peddling these secondary rehash characters like this. I thought this was a custom, not an official sneak peek at an actual Retro figure. I mean why not Black Lightning instead?
EPIC FAIL in my opinion based upon the greatness we've seen so far with this line. I'll likely ignore/skip this one all together.Last edited by LOU; Jan 18, '11, 9:57 AM.Leave a comment:

He is cool but honestly if it's a Matty Collector fig I will probably not bother unless they get their website ordering worked out.
I don't know what it is but something about Mattel has got a bad taste in my mouth right now whereas I should simply be thankful that they are producing the Re-Mego's. I must go look for the proverbial "chill pill". Anybody have any extra?Leave a comment:
