Anyone buying figures they don't love just to buy them?

At first I was picking and choosing my favorite villains but getting all the good guys.

Now I'm less selective.

What about you.

Are you very disciplined about getting just the figures you like...?

Or do you also buy figures that you dont necessarily like?

If so...why?

And where do you draw the line?

Sometimes people buy figures because they're completists...and want to get the entire set.

Or see something at a good price and figure "why not?"

I bought Supes, Bats, Aquaman only because dumbldor was selling them
at a good price w/figures I actually wanted (Two Face and Black Manta)...

Now Two face and Manta are displayed w/my Mego collection and
the 3 figs I thought I'd never own...Aquaman, Supes & Bats...
are standing seperate from my Megos, on my desk in front of me,
and i can't take my eyes off them.

I'm actually quite shocked.

I'm on the fence of getting Captain Cold. He looked like such a pin head on the net hat I couldn't stand him, now that I saw him in person last night he actually looks pretty good and I'll have to rethink getting him. I may now get him.

I will not be buying any of the RA Mattey exclusive Green Lanterns, new Sinestro, Darksied, or that black Adam dude. I just have no connection with those guys and I don't know if I want them.

As with the MEGO 8" line, when I collected those there are figures I will never want, Mxy and Tarzan are just a couple.

I dont, but know folks who do. Some of them just need them all and some do it for future trade items.

While I want to have a complete set of the original WGSH, I'm being a little more choosy with the Mattel figures. I bought the entire first wave because I liked them. I got Black Manta and Two-Face as soon as I saw them, and Aquman was a gift. I still haven't been able to bring myself to shell out the money for a Batman, and I may not ever buy him. I like the pictures I've seen of the next wave, but will make a decision whether to buy them once I see them in person. From the prototypes, there's a good chance I won't get any of the wave with Martian Manhunter and Black Adam.

I'm on the fence for the Sinestro exclusive. Already have the classic Sinestro, and never bothered with the recent Blackest Night comics. If I do get him, it's just to be a completist.

I also picked up the Scott Ian figure on an impulse. Not really a fan of Anthrax, but he does look pretty cool. Might have him team up with Brick Mantooth when he's released for some hijinks or something.

I was a completest at one point but have that out of my system these days due in part to the economy and another part being space.

As far as original Mego I at one point had a complete loose collection. Nowadays after many sales and trades my collection consists of only the one's from childhood which really weren't all that many.

With the Mattel's, I'm only interested in the "Super Friends" crew. Again it's all about the one's I wanted as a kid.

I have had to make myself stop however when it comes to some of the other new EMCE Mego's. I love the monster's but just can't go in the direction of Lost or Venture Brothers because I hace no interest in those shows. However... if I found them for 9.99 or less on a rack somewhere I most likely would buy them.

So far I have gotten them all. I would have rather had Joker or Penguin over Two Face though. Captain Cold is my favorite bad guy they've done so far. The big shock for me was Wonder Woman. I really liked her more once I fixed her hair. She looks pretty darn nice now.

Wave 4 is the first wave I'm not thrilled about. Shazam and Martian Manhunter are a must for me. Though Solomon Grundy would have been my choice over Darkseid...I still plan to buy Darkseid because he was the major villain of the Super Friends in the 80's versions of the cartoons. Black Adam I'm still on the fence about. I hate him and really hoped Dr. Savina would have been made instead. If I buy him it will be only to have a Shazam villain and no other reason. He will be my first to buy just to be complete figure. I'm buying none of the Green Lantern exclusives. I'm hoping after a weaker wave 4 line up that waves 5 and 6 will be jammed pack with more famous heroes (Robin,Hawkman,Plastic Man etc) and villians (Joker,Penguin,Riddler etc)

I am pretty much a buy em all type. Especially with superheroes. I do pick and choose the lines I collect. There are just too many Re-Mego's right now to get them all!

I certainly DON'T have the "collect them all mentality". I only buy Characters I like...but not even them if the Sculpts come out looking like Crap(ala Mattel Batman & The Flash).

I can't afford to collect them all. I just get the ones I really love.
