Honestly I think these figures would sell quickly at 14.99. Wave two has sold well in south Atlanta and haven't been able to find Black Manta or Two Face. Perhaps I should order them online but there is something satisfying buying them at a brick and mortar store. I am going to look this afternoon. I am starting get into the mego format since Hot Toys has become so expensive with only a few licenses that I care about. Really want to get back into a regular line of figures and pick which Hot Toys figures I want.Comment

Harlock, Two-Face and Black Manta are only one-per-case, that's why they're tougher to find. The assortment I saw unpacked by a sales clerk at T.J. Maxx consisted of:
3 Batman
2 Aquaman
1 Black Manta
1 Two-Face
1 Superman
Having said that, you may want to ask when they put out their toys and be there at that time to hover around the toy department. That's what I did and it paid off! Hope this helps!Comment

I think this is being overthought. TRU only has so much shelf space especially during Christmas and Wave 1 is stagnant. It's forced them to "skip" wave 2 because wave 3 is now shipping. They're not going to give more pegs to the line this time of year so they or Matty decided to eat W2 and sell the remainder to a non-closeout chain. If/when they show at Big Lots, then we're staring at the end. TJM and Marshalls were solid stores until the economy tanked.
Re: price point. 10 is golden because it allows me to grab ones I don't care for like Supes or Aquaman and throw them in my kids bins. At 20, they're priced to gouge the collector which is how this line was sold to Matty. If Matty had interest in an 8" line, why would they care about retro as a marketing tool? They have two lines of focus for DCU already, so what's the value in a third if it can't hit a premium beyond the other two? To sell an 8" Between the 6" and 3 3/4 price can only hurt the sales of the other two. If I didn't know the difference and had to choose for a six yr/old , I go RA because it's bigger and looks safer. IMO that's why these are blowing out at TJM, parents and relatives buying for younger kids, not an influx of otaku. Consider how many parents, grandparents, etc remember having or buying Megos when they were kids or parents. Then one day you see a similar item on a TJM shelf for a reasonable price? At that point, it doesn't matter if they are in the know about Mego, Emce, etc...Comment

I don't care where people buy them or at what price - as long as the
figures are getting into the hands of kids and non-mego collectors,
otherwise it's just us 40somethings for the next 40 years.Comment

You just proved the point that EVEN at $19.99 it's still a good deal. To customize a figure it still would cost more than $20. That's why I don't understand why some are upset at a $20 price point."When not too many people can see we're all the same
And because of all their tears,
Their eyes can't hope to see
The beauty that surrounds them
Isn't it a pity".

I have Wave 1 and 2, as well as Green Arrow. GA was purchased through here and all the rest were purchased online or on Ebay for around $9 each. I have since acquired a couple to open at TJ Maxx and AJ Wright.
After opening them, I am glad I did not spend $20 on each of them. They are nice and have nice costuming touches, but the construction of the bodies are not great.
Not to mention, the bodies should be more muscular. They are really kind of wimpy, especially compared to Famous Covers, in my opinion a much better line of figures.Comment

I really don't mind the price on these. I am getting 8" figures that I used to dream about Mego making and my kids seem to love them. Only thing I would like to see is the bodies get tighter my son also pointed it out to me when he opened his Flash and Captain Cold yesterday.Comment

I found a lone Black Manta and my first thought was to look at all the non fanboys in that store and realize how many kids were going to get large figures they only know from Cartoon Network. That is fantastic.
I opened Manta on Christmas with my daughter and compared to Wave 1, the structure is much better. He's the first I haven't had to gut like a fish.Comment

Do the complainer's actually look at figures that are comparable and realize they are just wrong. Non licensed figures in this size sell for about 20.00 so a licenced 8" figure for 20.00 seems reasonalbe to me. Hasbro's dc figures from 99 and a little later sold at 15-20 and that was over 10 years ago!Comment

I really dont understand how anyone can defend a product that falls apart right out of the package for $20?? Now its cool just for spare parts?
Or has two right hand. or two left arms? And this reputation is going to get the toys into the hands of the public? Little noncustomizing kids?
I understand sticking up for friends but come on. If it was anything else........Last edited by Doc; Dec 26, '10, 10:55 PM.Comment
