His figure isn't broken, it just has a design flaw in the "hook and band" system. A replacement will work exactly the same.
Well, bye Lonnie. I'm done with you now. And to those who advised that I shouldn't have tried, once again you prove correct. Clearly I'm still naive enough to think that EVERYONE can be dealt with rationally.

Back over to the thread with the grownups and the constructive criticism.

Wow, Joe. I was just trying to tell you the bodies aren't broken. I'm not trying to "snipe" comment against you. You got the wrong impression. Read the post again. hakunna matatta...Let's be friends.

okay, lonnie and i were on the phone for over an hour and kissed and made up.

and he had a lot of very valid points about the bodies and the makeup of the plastic that were valid.

that said, there was no way this could have been resolved without actual vocal dialogue, and it remains the core of my issue with message boards and other social media around people's passions.

i think we need to turn this board into a call-in show. :-)

anyway, thank you lonnie for being persistent and being a mensch and picking up the phone and calling. we will talk again.

Joe, you live in Bayside? I'm on 35th Ave man by the Clearview Expwy. Did you get hit by the tornado? There are trees down everywhere! Hope all is well.

I know exactly where you are...I drive through there every day to drop the kids off at school. Thankfully, no damage, but there's still trees down all over my block. You okay?

Having disassembled one of the Doc Mego repro bodies I got a few months back, there is a big difference in the way the metal parts of the joint were made compared to what I'm seeing here. These are closer in spirit to the old Megos, though a much cheaper and badly executed assembly. I haven't noted this sort of thing on any of the previous retro figures I've gotten, so something definitely changed.

A side note, I haven't noted the jutting left hip on any of the retros I've gotten, either, though the aforementioned body I pulled apart suffered from the ailment. Has this been corrected on the repro bodies available now? I'd love to do some body switches with the Mattel figures, but the jut shows quite a bit with the hero costumes. Even so, my Supes looks so much more heroic on a classic body (I posed him wit the left leg raised to cover for the jut)...
