Yes, this is fantastic news. I do hope (don't know if this got mentioned or not) that with the new designs, we might see those improvements used in re-issues of waves 1 & 2?
That would be very cool.
A re-issue of waves 1 & 2 with the "projected" new design will be.......So Awesome! I'll surely by them all again.

I thank everyone for their exhaustive feedback (one item that really resonated with the client was that some of the recommendations came from people with actual plastics and engineering experience, so I think they felt that they were getting some strong consultation), and as best as the monolithic process of our friends and clients will allow, all of this information will be taken into consideration.
Wow! sounds like this could be a victory for the "Open Source" concept of problem solving if there were some members suggestions that will actually impact the final product.
Great news, it's good to know not only that Mattel is looking at the design problems, but also that this line is a success and will be around for some time to come.
A retooled pelvis and torso section would be a great start. I don't know how far they want to go, but I'd start there and then move on to revamping the stringing process.
I agree with Azrak. If Mattel would retool the pelvis and torso section (as shown in his picture), this would fix everything that ails the current body design. I would respectfully ask Mattel to remember many collectors do not remove the figure from the package, so HOW the figure looks sitting in the package is of great importance. Thanks for hearing our concerns!
Okay, been a while since we chatted about this, but Paul and I spent several days in LA together with our various partners and assembled all the comments on the bodies and such. Every detail was discussed, every visual was shown and all the flaws demonstrated. So, with any luck (and continued followup), we will be seeing improvements in these bodies as the waves continue.
And they will. I would just like to finally silence any agenda-carrying naysayers here who keep using the phrase "will kill the line" or "s-can the line" by saying that no less than two more years of figures were discussed beyond the ones we've already planned and prototyped, so that's two years on top of the many you already don't know about yet.
So, these figures are successful, here to stay and it looks like they'll keep going until there are no more figures that make sense being done in the format. Mego superheroes are back and not going anywhere.

Joe & Paul,
#1- Thank you for making the DC Retro Action line happen!
#2- Thank you for considering our inputs and advocating for us with Mattel
and
#3- Thank you for ensuring line continuity. We look forward to the entire DC Universe in this format
Next month we will be celebrating the first anniversary on the launch of this line and it was all possible because of you. Keep them coming!

This is fantastic news Joe. We get better bodies and at least 2 more years of figures, that's 3 waves per year of 4 figures, that's 24 more figures. Now how could anyone complain about that
Thank you for the insight Joe. I look forward to collecting 'em all for years to come, assuming they make it to my TRU. Still no wave 2 yet. But I know that is not your fault. Can't wait to see what's coming.

Thanks for taking this to Mattel in the first place guys. Mego wasnt perfect right out of the box either...I needed to remind myself of that..I think we all do to some extent. Cant wait to see what they do to improve the bodies, and look forward to a continuing line for years to come!!

Two-Face's shirt uses velcro (but the suit jacket and pants use snaps). I thought it works well... and I suspect Mego would totally have gone to velcro if they had lasted longer.
