The DC Direct 13" Two-Face came with a loose coin that's in scale with the figure....so it could have been done if Mattel had wanted to...Unless of course the "small parts choking rule" applies differently to stuff marketed at a TRU level as opposed to DC Direct?

Hot Toys had really good detailed ones as well, and they were quite tiny at 1/6th scale, so I'm sure a 1/9th mini coin would have been even more problematic and instantly lost by any kid anyways.

Most of the the DC Direct ones have the coin molded into the hand, but I guess cost of molding an extra hand just wasn't in the cards (or coin as it were). It would have been nice if he came with a gun.






This one does have a neat coin flipping thing going on with clear plastic depicting the motion, but it's more for display value than play.

They know DC Super Hero collector's will buy a piece of dog excrement once they plop a Bat mask and cape on it and seal it in a package.

How would you want Mattel to handle the paint ap for that? In the classic Blue/Gray or the more contemporary Black?

How about texture and consistency? On the one hand you want it to display well for collectors, but to appeal to the kids, it has to have a certain amount of play-value.

I'm also sure that there are laws prohibiting such a thing from being sold in chains such as Walmart, which also sell groceries these days. I have no doubt that there would be demand as a convention exclusive. Just look at the empty package they sold as Wonder Woman's invisible plane!

AFAIC a slightly bigger (coaster) coin...it's better than "nothing"

....and it's ALSO better than a coin that's sized "in actual scale"
which is so freakin' small that it essentially IS "nothing".

There was No discussion. This is Mattel you're talking about. Mattel has NO quality control whatsoever. Their entire business model is based on the "good enough" philosophy.

Why should they pack in character appropriate accessories, why should they redesign a horribly constructed body? - Will they sell more units that way? That would only cut into their profit margin. the coin , i can make those by the hundreds in my shop. of course ,they be featureless on both sides with a " X " on one side.
it would be a small expensive item for mattel to dupicate.
