Gotta agree with Joe here. This isn't the first time you've insulted Paul like this. This kinda paranoia has no place on this board"...The agony of my soul found vent in one loud, long and final scream of despair..." - Edgar Allan PoeComment

With all due respect, the lion's share of people who are going to find these toys will not know who Dr. Mego, EMCE or even MEGO is. (And if they do know about MEGO, they will pronounce it Meh-Go).
When someone buys one of those floppy messes, they will either toss it aside, return it or just accept it and probably skip future releases. There probably are not enough collectors "in the know" to keep this line afloat for very long, especially with the odd choices coming down the pike.Comment

First of all I was not insulting Paul, as you put it. I have been a good customer of Paul's for many many years (since the Land of Oohs and oz), and have met him serveral times in person........My point is THIS PRODUCT is NOT Acceptable, and not worth $20 per figure In This Condition, and I'm sure Paul feels the same way.........if it's broken FIX IT!Comment

These are not Big Jim bodies. I don't know why this rumor persists. It has been debunked time and time again.

I think it would be logically to state that since Mattel owns the design rights to Big Jim that the designers of the retro line must have gone into the Mattel library archive and pulled a male body design that was popular in the 70's in order to give it "retro" feel. This way it gives them a new body design(Mego/Big Jim hybrid) that they can copyright for possible future use.
It actually was kind of neat. Part retro Mego, part retro Mattel.
It is just unfortunate that people are not happy with it.Comment

It is a good idea.
Where they Dropped the Ball, is trying to String them, instead of just going with the Origional Design of the Body, ... which was no stringing. Thats why the Body doesn't work...., imo The design of the stringing the parts was dropped. Sometimes it's hard to fabricate an Idea into something Else .. Case in Point The Retro Hero Body.... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
always trading for Hot Toys Figures .Comment

I'lll say this, being they guy that's bought each peice thus far, I love the fact that they are back out on the shelves. It's such a thrill to have these in my collection, but the bodies are VERY under par, Doc's bodies are awesome, Cast-A-way's are as well, but to make such an anticipated line with sub-par bodies dosen't really surprize me, what really eats at me is that they used ELASTIC BANDS to hold the whole thing together, why not rubber? They never stand straight, that bothers me too. Other than that, I'm happy. I did notice the Batman Emblem is a bit dodgy as well, yeah Mattel needs to get on the ball with this totally agreed! But I'm just happy to have Mego-like toys out again. I just hope they correct the line down the road before collectors do loose interrest.sigpic
