Now that we know mattel is NOT going to fix the retro body problem (should have been fixed by wave 2)....wouldn't it be a good idea if the retro figures came with a coupon for a FREE Doc Mego Body.

In a perfect world that would be great. However, I just do not see that happening unfortunately.

Why Does the Body Design work for Big Jim ..., But not Mattels Inspired Body ? . What did Big Jim Do Differently ? I don't have any, so I was just curious .
... The Original Knight ..., Often Imitated, However Never Duplicated. The 1st Knight in Customs.
On Big Jims, the legs plugged into a swivel socket on either side of the pelvis which gave them the proper stance to be posed. The heroes don't have that, so the legs bow out because their held by the same elastic chord as the rest of the body. Had they used the original design, the leg molds would read correctly.
Of course its not the same body. Big Jim was done on a different scale. But they are similar in anatomical design. The chest, arms, and legs are very much in the same spirit as Big Jim. So the question was a logical inquiry. And the answer remains the same. Had they used a swivel socket on the pelvis of the Mattel retro figure (like Big Jim), the legs would not have bowed out. They would have inserted into the socket which would have permitted the legs to align properly with the rest of the body.

Dude ..., I agree. The Shape of Everything is Way too Much the Same, Just for a Retro-Hero Body to be Literally Pulled outta NoWhere. The Anatomical Design and the Shapes are very Much the Same... Look at all the Muscle Cuts ... The Arms even Match almost Exzactly, ... other than being cut in 2 pieces on the Retro Hero and then having Hand Sockets.
It doesn't matter to me, I am not trying to make some sorta "Big Deal" with this Theory, I was just curious..., because Big Jim Collectors, love Big Jim, and I wondered Why it worked there. But the Body not being Strung, seems to answer My Question.
I think it would be logically to state that since Mattel owns the design rights to Big Jim that the designers of the retro line must have gone into the Mattel library archive and pulled a male body design that was popular in the 70's in order to give it "retro" feel. This way it gives them a new body design(Mego/Big Jim hybrid) that they can copyright for possible future use.
1) The thighs on Big Jim are tapered at the top giving a much more pleasing transition to the quads.
2) The angle of the knee joint is correct on Big Jim. The angle on the Mattelego is completely wrong, making him bowlegged.
The bodies are VERY similar. Almost like they shrunk down Big Jim but those differences in the legs make Big Jim look like a hero, not a dweeb. Sorry, but that's how the Mattelegos look to me.

These are not Big Jim bodies. I don't know why this rumor persists. It has been debunked time and time again.
