With the current flood of eight inch figures one would assume that sales must be pretty good,or they wouldn't keep making them.
I wonder if Marvel is taking notice?
It would be cool if they partnered with Doc and Marty, re-released the originals (like they did with Star Trek and Apes), and then started adding "should-have-beens" to the line, in the original style, like they're doing with Star Trek. Yes. That's what Marvel should do.
I pray to God Marvel is paying attention! I WANT my X-Men!! It would be cool if they got Doc involved...but they could copy the Mego style on their own, if they just did a little homework.
Well I'd like a new 8" Ironman. Don't think it's going to happen for at least another year or so since Hasbro didn't show anything at SDCC. But if Retro-heroes continues to do well, you know Hasbro will want some of that $$$$. Whether or not the figures will be Mego enough remains to be seen. Hopefully they can at least make a body that can stand on its own.
OMG...Disney has nothing to do with this stuff. It never reaches beyond Marvel quality control and Hasbro has a carte blanche agreement, which is why they shelled out a ton for the license.
IMO, the best shot will be next the next Toy Fair since within one year, well have X:Men First Class, Thor and Cap in 2011 followed by Avengers and Spidey reboot in '12. If they're not willing to hit the market with that awareness, then they're not getting in the mix.
