I think The Big Red Cheese and Black Adam look great!

The button up tunic is a fantastic touch.

Really groovin' on the Gold. Really makes it feel much more special than standard comic book yellow. Looks like they got a good balance between the grin and the squint of CC Beck, and the look of the rest of the retro line.

I am liking the figure , but I am a Shazam fan anyways. I do not have a problem with the gold , however I do think the yellow would have been a better choice. The costume is great as far detail goes , but doesnt more detail take from what these are ? Anyways I am digging everyone , My only gripe is the TRU and Matty exclusives. I may avoid the Matty exclusives because I hate fighting may in to get stuff on the site. I hope the 2 Pack with Gardner will also be available with EE or BBTS.

I have to agree, I'm liking all of Wave 3 and 4. I LOVE the Sinestro variant, I'm glad they did that as an exclusive. The only one I'm not all that interested in is Guy Gardner, and that's because I've never liked his character in the comics.

My gripe with the Toys R Us and Diamond exclusive nature of the Retro Superheroes is the fact that they don't seem to be showing up in the Toys R Us Canada stores and the comic shops seem like they are overcharging for them in my neck of the woods (the exchange rate is about par these days).

I don't think you'll have any trouble with the GL's on Matty Collector. Green Arrow hung out there for a week or so.

I'm a slobbering SHazam fanboy so I would have purchased that figure no matter what. It looks good from what I can tell. Aren't they going to display the actual figures at the booth rather than pictures of the figures? I want to see details. I am stoked about this particular wave.

I want all 4 of those! Martian Manhunter the most. I really need to get Shazam. I still to this day do not own a single Shazam figure in my collection and I'm not sure why that is. I'll make this one my first.
Would this be wave 4? Or is it 3? edit: ohh its 4.

And Guy Gardener is a must have for me! Actually I'll have to get 2 because my best friend thinks he's awesome.

Okay, now I can finally talk about this one. My first MEGO was a Shazam, and by the time I got it, I had already devoured all the new (at the time) DC stuff, the classic reprints, and a super-8 version of the old serial, as well as issue #101 of Famous Monsters with a color painted version of Cap on the cover. Captain Marvel (there, I said it), was my favorite superhero.

That said, I always thought the toy was lacking. The yellow cape and peel-away emblem were copouts, I always thought.

A few years later, my cousins, who were not well off, were visiting and playing with my MEGOs. They liked Cap in particular. I wanted to get one for them for Christmas later that year, but by then they were all gone.

So I made one. Out of sewn together construction paper stuffed with cotton batting. But I added the button flap and gave him a white cape with the frogs in the right place. Trimmed his sideburns. Blew out his eyebrows. My cousins loved it, but in my heart I wish I could have made a real Captain Marvel figure out of plastic and cloth. In retrospect, of course, I probably could have, but toys were things that "came from real companies", certainly not something a 12 year old kid could make at home.

So, when faced with the next wave, we knew it was time to do Cap right. You've all heard Paul talk about how doing these figures is a dream come true for him, but this one was mine. I know people think of me as the "business guy" in the group at EMCE, but this one was all heart.

Glad you all like the prototype. I can't wait to see them out in production, once again cleaning up an old MEGO "almost".

Wave after wave...I will collect these until we get to the bottom of the barrell.
I think they should do a Matty Boxset "Batman Rogues Gallery" with the classic 4, then put Robin and Batgirl as a paired set alongside another hero villain combo...
