    "Retro" Action

That's what made me lose interest in collecting Famous Covers. There were too many characters that were obscure to me, ones that I didn't read in comics as a kid.
I always took "Retro" in this line to mean "Mego-like, 8" inch, cloth outfit" action figures, not necessarily that they all have to look like the original Megos or even that they have to look like the heroes and villians as they appeared in the comics of any time period. This Sinestro variant is exactly what I was hoping to see since the original one came out. If Mattel keeps going this route I'll be happy.

Mattel is shooting themselves in the foot

These figures are going to bomb bigtime.
I have to say, I sincerely hope you are very wrong.

"You can't please everyone..." is certainly the truest statement I've ever heard!

I always took Retro to mean figures and body styles that might have been released in the late 70's

This would cover any era up to mid 80's (which would include Super Powers)

That's what I take Retro as to mean.

The good news is, think of the money you are saving by not having to buy them!

The entire line won't go up in flames based on the limited Matty Collector releases like this. This is exactly why Matty Collector exists! To service a smaller portion of the action figure collector community.

Something else to keep in mind. There is an entire generation of kids out there in the "Real World" that don't know who Hal Jordan is (until the movie is released next year). My niece and nephew certainly don't. They know John Stewart ("the black guy"), Guy Gardner and G'nort.

          Y'know why?

I'm definitely getting them a Guy Gardner to play with.

I like Green Lantern, but this is too much. Now I'm rethinking my completest stance on this line.

I may be done after Wave 3, just picking up the ones I want. Darkseid is the only one that springs to mind.

The problem, though, with kids in the "real world" is that they will seek out things like Infinite Heroes, DCUC, and Brave and the Bold to get characters they have become familiar with.

Kids of Mego Museum members notwithstanding, most kids will not have much interest in figures they see as "dolls."

My boys know who all the GLs are. They don't like Guy either. lol.

Good point though and one I didn't overlook. We all know Guy and the GL Cors are and will be pushed heavily due to B&B and the new live action movie. I just personally only care about Hal so once I get him, any other GL characters are essentially moot for me as I don't want them. Having them as exclusives makes me happy for myself and for the fans. I don't want them interfering with the TRU releases and yet all the fans who DO wantthem cansill get them. It's win/win really.

Oh and as an aside, my boys would go batsh*t crazy for a current Blue Beetle Retro Action figure. They both love him on B&B!

Bingo! If they can diversify the folks willing to buy these, why can't the old school Megoheads see it as a good thing all around for the Mego Community?

I don't understand why folks feel so threatened by Retro Ghostbusters and Retro Style Venture Brothers as well. The kids of the eighties are approaching their thirties and let's face it, they are the big spenders these days when you look at the dollars they plunk down for their transformers and GI Joe RAH.

90's is considered "Retro"! Why flinch if Kurt Cobain and Kyle Rayner suddenly show up as Mego style figures? It's not like they are crowding anyone out.

Man, I am psyched about al the GL love. I hope the John Stewart GL is next, but I hope they model the head after the modern JLU, with the green eyes and the Marine cut.

Though I have to say I could live without a G'Nort.

The real question is, will there be a Kyle Rayner, and will it be crabface if so? I hope not...

I'm conflicted about Kilowog. We already have two Mego-scaled Kilwogs - one from DC direct and the other a Collect and Connect. I don't know who I'd rather have in his place, though.

My biggest concern about so many Mego styled figures coming out so quickly is that it will all reach a saturation point much too quickly... causing a backlash that will kill interest in this stuff. I'm mainly interested in the Retro-Action line as far as Re-Megos go. I don't want the RA line to die off before we get characters that most of us want like Robin and Joker.

                            .
I think it's just that the formats don't jive up to the era.

IMO Ghost Busters figures should be based on an 80's style of retro figure -- perhaps He Man bodies.

Making Ghost Busters on Mego body's is like making our beloved Mego heroes on MARX Best of the West bodies.

That's the way I see it.

Well I'll be DAMMED! I bought an extra Sinestro to get Brian Leitner to make me the yellow Suit, but if Mattly Collector is going to do it...I'll wait.

As for Guy Gardner...I'll pass! Never liked his Character.

I am happy to see these. I am happy to that the Reto line will include some more modern adaptations of characters. I would love to see more! With that said, I still wouldn't mind seeing more silver age or even golden age stuff. I guess it is nice that these are Matty exclusives. Buy em' if you like em'! (I will!!)
