    Matty Collector Green Lantern Exclusives!!!

Looks like we have our Sinestro Corps Variant! Is it only a matter of time before we have a masked GL Corps Sinestro as well?

GUY GARDNER!!!! The One True Green Lantern in my eyes. Never in a million years would I have suspected he would be made so early in the life of this line! I've been busy working away on my custom Guy Gardner because I never though i would have a real one. I'm a happy camper.

Looking forward to seeing who else pops up.

Which characters do you want to see?
Kilowog in the new Mattel Muscle body that Darkseid is sporting? Abin Sur? Attrocitus in the muscle body? Kyle Rayner? John Stewart? Caroly Ferris Star Saphire? LARFLEEZE! Black Lanterns?

Dare I hope for G'nort (the second best One True Green Lantern). Maybe a Brave and Bold figure first.

Very excited over the Matty Collector GL's.

Yeah, me too. Happy that my wallet will get a break. Sad that my interest in this line has already taken a big hit with this announcement.

I think this line exceeded Mattel's expectations and, consequently, they decided to throw the kitchen sink at it too soon. I was planning on buying every Retro-Action figure released... that changed about 20 minutes ago.

I agree. A modern Sinestro and Guy doesn't appeal to me at all and the Matty exclusive GL figs won't likely score big with me either.

The other 8 figs are all awesome tho.

What is the release date to the Green Lantern movie?

Starting in Feb... that means at least six Matty Collector GL exclusive figures right? Hopefully they will continue if they are successful... unless they are going to move onto another set of sub-figures.

Is Guy even in the GL movie?

I don't doubt we'll see a landslide of Ryan Reynolds GL stuff as well, but I'd prefer that to be more of a Movie Masters thing than retro action.

Maybe we'll see a Ganthet on an updated Mattel kid body?

These are an easy pass for me as well, to me the only GL's i need are Hal and Alan Scott, and I've already got one of those. Add to that the woes of ordering from Matty, easy pass.

That's because he's supposed to be! Most of his appearances are funny as hell when he was sporting the ridiculous bowl cut and oversized boots.

He's a parody of 80's machismo. Guy decided to INVADE THE SOVIET UNION at one point!

My two cents, and it might be my age speaking: if they're retro heroes then I'd like them to be retro, with my childhood secret ids. That means Barry Allen as the Flash, Diana Prince as Wonder Woman, Dick Grayson as Robin, etc. I hope the line doesn't get too contemporary. That's what made me lose interest in collecting Famous Covers. There were too many characters that were obscure to me, ones that I didn't read in comics as a kid.

                    Never heard of him

I only know 2 Green Lanterns

The Superfriends one and the black guy.

I know that DC/Warner are REALLY pushing the GL thing, lately, in anticipation of the new movie but going this deep into the lanterns in a retro line that's trying to mimic Mego just seems wrong. Are there really that many die-hard GL fans out there that are also into the Retro figures? Maybe so, but I would think they would be most happy with the GL stuff from DC Direct, DCUC, etc.

To me, the Retro-Action line should be about characters and choices that Mego would have made with the line with the characters that were available when Mego was still operating (and especially stuff that would have been on kids' radar like the Superfriends cartoon). To me, it feels like anything modern should be off-limits until the plethora of Silver Age characters has been exhausted.

I'd be 100% happy if they kept the exclusives in this format. I absolutely will NOT buy an exclusive and was bummed GA was such. I have absolutely NO interest in any of these exclusives. If they continue with modern characters and GL Corps as exclusives, I won't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

I think Mattel is shooting themselves in the foot with releases like this.

Most old time Mego people are not going to want these --- and modern collectors don't like the Retro/Mego format so they'll avoid them.

These figures are going to bomb bigtime.

Why can't they do both? The silver age characters are still coming out at Toys R Us at a good enough pace not to bankrupt everyone, and there is no doubt that the GL figures will be available in much more limited supply over in Matty Collectors. So the GL fans are happy and the retro guys should be happy with their TRU assortments without having to order the more contemporary GL's online.

I don't see this as a "Lose" for anyone.

Here's hoping that those of us that want more contemporary figures in the Retro Format will continue to get them from Matty Collector. I'd rather see a Nightwing than another Robin.

Keep in mind Guy isn't necessarily a "modern" character either... he's been around since the Silver age and for those of you who want to feel old... this particularly costumed incarnation is a quarter century old. If 80's isn't "Retro" these days, you're livin' in the past!
