I like the 70's style Mego made, just left of center in the collage picture, but not quite so overwheming in the action figure. But that could work too.
"Hang on Lady... We go for a RIDE!" - Shorty to Willie Scott.Best movie line from Indiana Jones & the Temple Of Doom
I think this one has the best of both worlds. It's it's recognizable and not too dated looking like the Mego version (looks today) yet retains enough of the classic outfit. Plus it looks a lot more like Superman's suit than the newer Britney Spears version Supergirl wears today.

The thing about the belly shirt is, I "get" why they put the animated Supergirl in one OVER A DOZEN YEARS AGO! It was in style. It "worked" for the time.
As fashion trends creeped back down, this is why Wondergirl's look was fine a few years ago when the fashion trend dictated a covered belly button with some of the midriff showing.
Note that these two trends coincided with belly button piercings and lower back tattoos.
At least with the periodical comics, with Supergirl, Wondergirl and to some extent Superboy, DC Comics really needs to keep on track with the most current teen fashions. Particularly if they are chasing the mythical teen audience that Young Justice and latest incarnation of the Teen Titans have never really found.
I actually really think the Jeans and T-shirt idea is great... they never go out of style, but they need to subtly shift it along with current trends. Slight modifications over time... baggy/tight, low/high waist, belted, patches/rips... god help us Acid Wash seems to be coming back. Just to make them seem current.
Supergirl and Wondergirl have always shifted outfits to suit the times. Not a problem, but they need to keep up... otherwise how ridiculous was that Haircut Superboy carried over into the new millenium? Not to mention the Biker Jacket.

Yeah, that Superboy outfit is awful. But I really like Connor buzzcut black-T-shirt-and-Jeans Superboy. As a character and as a modern 'less traditional' take on a superhero. I'd be thrilled if we could get mego-sized black T's with a red supes logo on 'em.
