    Suppose EMCE/MATTEL releases a Supergirl...

Suppose that the above mentioned company releases a Supergirl figure; how would you want her to look?

The original Mego version had a very sweet, yet bland sculpt to it; the eyes had no pupils, and it appeared as if she were in a trance or something. (At least to me she did).

Can the sculpt be updated without losing the delicious cheesiness of the figure itself?

Which suit should she wear? Her original all blue mini dress that she premiered in? The blue top and red shorts? The red mini skirt? The Justice League Unlimited outfit?

As for me, I'm a bit torn. I love the original version, except for the fact that the cape is too short, and the shoes are too easy to lose. I'd give her either a pair of short red ankle boots, or a pair of red knee boots.

I'd lengthen the cape (as well as make it easier to take off. LOL!); give her a better hairstyle than that ghastly flippy dippy do, and, most importantly, an emblem that does not come off the first time you wash the outfit.

The blue shirt, red skirt outfit would be good!

There's gotta be pics for a thread like this, dontcha think?

I'll vote for Helen Slater Movie Supergirl.

I'll also say that google image search on supergirl gives some eye-popping non-canon real world examples of costumes and leave it at that.

Thanks for the pics! Those are exactly what I was hinting at.

I like Helen Slater, but she has to have the "Love that Chicken" sign as an accessory

De nada. I think the Movie outfit or some subtle variation would look best on the figure. Not sure those tiny little skirts and sprayed on shirts/hotpants in the pic would translate to the Mego figure well. Though I think the Animated Supergirl costume might be a viable choice otherwise based on the recognizability of the newer Superman cartoon.

I was thinking of a solid blue leotard with an attached skirt at the waist, like a figure skater's outfit.

As for the boots, I'm not that fond of the plastic boots, as they tended to split and the little slipper thingies get lost.

You're right about the sprayed on shirt not being an option, but that's in the comics, where they have to play up her....um attributes, as well as her musculature.

On the figure, it could be as tight as the old oufit was, with a larger emblem.

I'd either like the poofy sleeves/slippers look that Mego did or one that looks like the 13" figure DC Direct did.

some variation on the movie outfit would be fine.

Almost any version of Supergirl is good, as long as it's not the jazzercise outfit from Crisis, with the red shoulders and headband.

                          Cheerleader Supergirl

At DC, they call the Crisis Supergirl outfit - the cheerleader Supergirl.

The style guide shows some pages of the 70's/Mego outfit and the
art makes it look a lot more Pam Greer than the box art.

Of course I can't comment on whether or not we are making Supergirl
in 2011, but if we do, I promise she will get a new head sculpt.

I think I'd want to be greedy - a traditional figure for mass market, and a silkscreened version for Matty...maybe with an optional peace-belt.
