Getting these heads off was a PAIN - I basically resorted to putting the torso in a VICE, and crushing it until it split and I could remove the head.

Tried to take some nice pictures of the figures on good bodies, as well as new cards to give them a more Mego feel.

The quality on these definately seems to be lacking. The heat-sealed emblems are already tearing on Supes and GL, and the nylon suits snag with the slightest touch.

With that said - once I get the bodies fixed and have them on proper cards - I love the way they *could* have looked. As has been said - Lex is the best of the bunch. With the body fixed I *reallY* like the Superman head. GL is great but his head's a little big, and Sinestro is actualy on par with Lex from a quality standpoint, I'm just not a huge fan of the character.

Please, please, please fix these bodies and improve the quality. If you're not going to fix the bodies, can you at least make the heads easier to take off? Mattel - are you listening?

Very good review Corellian Corvette. I believe that Mattel is listening and that change is going to come for the better. I mean look,...They have the DC license. Therefore, Why not make the best of what you owe/possess and nourish it to be.....in a nutshell a "Perpetual Cash Cow". C'mon Mattel were pulling for you. let's do this right!!!

I couldn't agree more! We are obviously all hard core fans! Hopefully they will correct the production of Wave 2 figures! If anyone is attending toy fair...please be sure to bring this issue up! The potential is there.....yet these figures need more quality control and attention to detail!

                Got em!

So the door bell rang and they just arrived! They looked fine in the bland packaging. I ripped em open with shear excitement despite all the news! The reviews so far have been DEAD on! It was the horror of Jar Jar binks all over again. This is a tragedy on par with Kingdom of the Crystall SKULL!!!! AHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAA! GL's head is too big and too bland...Superman's head is flat....the belt rides up strangely and near impossible to fix.....Lex and Sinestro look much better.....but no matter what there is no getting past the poorly strung bodies. What a horrible idea. The band pulls em and hunches them over no matter what....These guys have no playability function what so ever! Poor construction.....etcs....reread the posts......everyone was right! The only way to save them is to change bodies ASAP....but that won't help with a bland head or poorly devised suit! I am too ****ed off to care about Wave 2.....give me some details about how to fix WAVE 1!

Look back about a few posts in this thread, post #74 to be exact, and you will see the fixes with pics.

                    From Mattel!

I was hoping to hear from Mattel on these problems! Thanks...I will definitely take matters into my own hands too! The fixes suggested here do look like the only way to go!

Might be a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG wait. Mattel typically doesn't respond publicly to issues like this off the cuff.. their usual style of response to complaints, or production issues, is to ignore them hoping they will go away, unless an issue is just blasted on every web forum, toy site, etc., then they may throw out some trite reply (again, think Gleek) to passify the mobs.

A much better chance for a reply is to get some toy site to ask the question for you during the monthly "Ask MAtty" exchange many sites participate in. The question would need to be polite, to the point, and specific though.

                      * I'm really disappointed to hear so many bad reviews on these. Seems like quality should have been a slam-dunk with EMCE involved.

                      Regards,

                      g.

I remember buying Mego's as a kid. In fact, I owned no less than three supermen in a two year stretch due to bodies breaking and costumes tearing from normal play. The design of the V-shaped body lends itself well to the newer style that my six year-old thinks is cool. He thinks that Mattels figures are "way-cooler" than daddy's Megos, and to me, that is the name of this game. Sure, I want to add really cool new Megos to my collection, but first and foremost is the desire to see my kids play with the new line.
Why do I like them? Because my son does.
