I have had many friends who owned their own shops. They never purchased items that would be carried by the mass retailers through Diamond, simply because they could buy them off the shelf themselves for cheaper. The practice of purchasing direct from retailers makes LCS's the biggest scalpers of them all; unfortunate but true. You can't really blame the LCS's for scalping; after all, Diamond has a cornered market and charges prices that make it near impossible for LCS's to make a real profit without scalping the local market.
I do buy overpriced items like toys from my LCS, but not because I can't get them cheaper. I buy them in order to keep the shop in business. After all, I like getting my comics and LCS's do not make enough money on comics to keep the doors open. From my experience comics only equal about 20% of the total profit margin for specialty shops.
All of that being said I will buy my Retro figures from TRU just so I can take my sons in and let them experience the same joy I had as a child. Sorry LCS, but don't worry...you will get the rest of my cash.

I may be talking about something I know little about (not being a dealer myself) but if you click the amazon link at the top of the of the museum, they are offering the first wave figures for $19.99 each and if you go over $25 you can get free shipping. 80 cents per figure may not be a big savings, but if you were getting 25 figures you would have saved nough to get #26 free. Plus things bought through the museum link somehow help the museum with a small kick back. I don't know how fast they would arrive or if you have to get your things from your supplier or any of that, just thought it might help out.
You're right. Previews is pretty good, AMAZON looks better. But most dealers (I'm not one) probably are getting wholsale prices from Diamond/MATTEL, thus won't be going the AMAZON route.

        * I just placed my order for 6 (1 xtra Hal and Sinestro) for $119.94 via AMAZON. Cheaper and faster than Diamond according to their shipping dates.

Thanks for the nudge, and logic.

I was hoping Amazon.ca would have them too but they must still only do books and dvd's.

Yeah. Base price. Most comic shops give a discount on Preview (Diamond) items. Depends on the store, and product being solicited. My store has them for the $20.79 cost to customers ordering through previews (2 months in advance). Once they hit LC stores for impulse buys, they may be even more than the $25.99 (again depending on the store).

Retailers who buy through Diamond will be getting the figures at $16.89 apiece and they will be able to order figures individually rather than as a set like the Star Trek figures.

So if your LCS charges $20, he'll make $4 minus his shipping on the figures.

While I doubt Diamond retailers will go crazy ordering these, I'm betting most will buy at least a few. No doubt, they will look cool in their stores.

                Not a great markup.

What I'm wondering is if mattycollector will carry the figures. It was really easy ordering DCU Classics Series 11 from them.

One more thing about Diamond .......they usually will discount items if they get stuck with to many...and if they feel pressure from TRU selling things at a discount or on sale they will blow items out....I know this through years of dealing with Diamond.....TRU will probably have the best pricing on these new figures....plus I like to pick out the best ones I can find in person.
