Not sure about the other titans, but I always picture Robin as shorter than Batman --- even if they're both adults.

A Batman and Robin of the same height just don't look right.

If a standard 8" body represents a 6' tall man, that's fine, but not all men are 6' tall.

The 80's Perez stuff is well past Mego's history, so it shouldn't apply.

You don't think Starfire could pass for a 13 year old?

I still remember the panel in the first Deluxe Titans issue with her and Dick Grayson waking up startled in bed together..

It seems to me that if the MEGO line is re-born with this new product, this is the perfect opportunity to correct the mistakes of the past due to early MEGO's limited production budgets, etc.

The fact of the matter is MEGO made all Super heroes the same height back in the 1970's because it was easier and cheaper to produce them that way.

But the result was characters who are WILDLY out of scale with each other.

Why go back to that? Why emulate that? Why not improve upon what MEGO had done. Why not refine the detail and sophistication of this scaled line of action figures just as MEGO themselves were doing toward the end.

I, for one, would like to see a line of clothed 8 inch scaled figures that take into account each other's relative height.

Virtually all other well-produced action figure lines do this. I believe that this Neo-MEGO line should as well... especially since classic MEGO did produce enough body variants to cover most applications.

As a customizer myself, it is no secret that I have absolutely no allegiance to emulating a 37 year old toy line that was (quite frankly) initially done on the cheap.

Yes, during the Perez years, the Teen Titans were pretty much young adults, but:

                      A) They were portrayed as considerably younger characters during the 1970's when MEGO produced them as figures.

                      and

                      B) Even if the Neo-MEGO Titans characters are represented as young adults, I see no reason to stick with a single size for all characters.

Dick Grayson was pretty much his maximum adult height (about 5' 9") by the time he first became Nightwing. But that is a far cry from Bruce Wayne's or Clark Kent's 6' 2" - 6' 4".

As Mike said, a Robin the same height as Batman just doesn't look right... even if it IS an adult version of the character.

Really??? Well, I guess The Penguin, The Hulk, The Thing, Mr Myxylptlk... none of them are MEGOS (They ain't 8 inches tall)... to say nothing of the Our Gang figures... Nope! Not MEGOs either!

                              Hee, hee, hee, hee, hee

Just yankin' yer chain good buddy! I know how you feel, and I completely respect your position!

Clearly in the world of MEGO collecting, there tend to be either MEGO purists, or MEGO "progressives".

Me, I obviously belong in the latter camp. It's why I'm a customizer.

But the interesting thing is, I don't see why both camps have to be mutually exculsive.

You see, I've observed that many MEGO purists seem to ignore the fact that toward the end, the MEGO Corp. became very progressive in the production of their action figures. I mean we saw the development of new size bodies, higher quality fabrics, more accurate costume details, inclusion of more elaborate accessories, more impressive head sculpts, bye-bye oven mitts for gloved characters... you name it!

All I'm saying is if we're going to emulate MEGO products today, why not emulate the very BEST that MEGO had to offer in terms of detail and progressive thinking? Why stick with emulating the company's limited thinking and resources when they were just starting out?

I think it's totally possible to be a MEGO "purist" while still producing figures that meet exacting scale sizes.

Given enough time, I think MEGO would have gone in that direction themselves anyway.

From a business standpoint, it also just makes a lot more sense to produce a toy product that has a wider appeal than just the nostalgia for us 30-40 something year olds.

A whole new generation of kids could be exposed to these great comic book heores in this toy format.

But I don't think they'd be very forgiving of some of the budgetary limitations that were evident in MEGO's early WGSH product as minimal costume details and uniform height for all.

Kids today are considerably more sophisticated in that regard than we were back in 1974... especially given the awesome products being produced by the myriad of competing toy companies out there (Hasbro, Playmates, Gentle Giant, Sideshow, et, al).

I can see both sides of this well Roberto...because I too am a Customizer. That's why I brought "The THING" up to Mego 8" scale(with the help of Doc's Head Sculpt, Reproheads Leg extensions & Dye screened Suit).
