but that's my point: as of right now, they DO have the rights

    to the Characters

they can outfit these characters as they see fit

as long as they do not resemble the actors, there is no rights violation !

    think about it:
a generic Catwoman in shiny black outfit
a Batgirl in a shiny purple outfit
a Mego RC Batman dressed like Adam West
    etc

Mattel is doing a line of 12" mego-like figures from the Superman films for it's mattycollector.com.

If they sell decent, it wouldn't surprise me if Mattell stretched into Green Lantern or even picked up the DarkKnight or other DC properties they have the rights to.

Here is my DC wishlist (in order of want):

Batman "classic" (RC, of course, and NO OVEN MITTS)
    Batman (Adam West outfit)
    Batman (all black costume)
Batman (all grey with black batman logo)
    The Riddler (Gorshin tights)
The Riddler (Gorshin green business suit with removable bowler)
    The Joker (Ceasar Romero outfit)
    Batgirl "classic"
    Batgirl (Yvonne Craig outfit)
    Catwoman (Newmar/Merriweather outfit)
    Robin (Burt Ward outfit)
    The Flash
Aquaman (no Oven mitts ! !)
    Wonder Woman (improved outfit)
    Bizarro
    Black Manta
Robin "classic" (no Oven mitts ! !)
The Penguin (Burgess Meredith outfit with UMBRELLA !)
    Mr Freeeze
    King Tut
    Egghead
    Harley Quinn

all these would be incredible if they could get the rights

I hope they are around long enough to make every A, B, C and D list character in the DC universe.

    But for me personally:
    Black Canary
    Firestorm
    Power Girl
    Black Manta
    Black Adam
    Mera
    70's Catwoman
    Booster Gold
    Blue Beetle
    Harley Quinn

I hope most characters get an accessory when possible, i.e. Aqauamn gets a trident, Batman gets a batarang, Joker gets a cane, etc. I just think that adds so much to the figure.

I'll toss some scenarios into the ring to further the discussion.
If the initial waves are successful, and DC continues with these scale figures.

    1. How will the new Batman/Superman movies affect the character decisions? Will there be movie versions of these characters or would DC/Mattel simply re-release the original sculpts to the toy buying masses with movie packaging?

    2. The new Green Lantern movie is reportedly going to contain a number of GL Corps members as well as villains. GL has always been a sought after character in the Mego universe and is going to finally happen in 8" scale. Will the love carry on to the rest of the Corps.?

    3. Jonah Hex has been announced. Not a widely popular character but would you buy him in mego scale simply because he was mego-like?

    4. On that thought, characters like Jonah Hex and The Spirit have had movies yet Shazam has not. Why do you think? Too close to Superman? Shazam has a wide array of good guys and bad guys as well as Black Adam that kinda rides the fence. Could be a very interesting story to tell while the recent Superman films have been OK at best, especially compared to the Batman's recent success.

P.S.Tell me "The Rock" wouldn't be awesome as Black Adam!! That figure would RULE!!

OK, that's enough for now. Discuss amongst yourselves and your Mego bretheren.

It's probably not happening but I would love an Animal Man. Mattel has made two figures of him, so there is a teeny tiny flicker of hope.

I was just thinking the same thing on Captain Marvel.I'm sure if he's made that'll definitely be one of the upgrades.Hopefully a new cape and the correct boots also.

There's quite a bit of potential for the Green Lantern figure if they produce alternate heads.

I agree with staying with the 70's characters and style at least for the first 10 or 15 waves!

    My votes go for:

    Wave 2
    Batman/Joker
    Batgirl/Riddler
Captain Marvel Jr (Web exclusive) - I have to have my Marvel family!

    Wave 3
    Aquaman/Manta
    Wonder Woman/Cheeta
    Mary Marvel (Web exclusive)

    Wave 4
    Shazam/Black Adam
    Robin/Riddler
    Catwoman (Web Exclusive)

    Wave 5
    Flash/Reverse-Flash
    Supergirl/Bizzaro
    Captain Cold (Web Exclusive)

    That would get me started!

Sadly, Lonnie, Agatha Harkness is all Marvel, and chances are highly unlikely Hasbro will let Mattel make that smokin' hot septuagenarian.

But all is not lost! Ma Kent is definitely a DC property, and should be a prime candidate for inclusion in the new WGSH line! She sews Superman's suits! She made sure he grew up big and strong (give her a rhubarb pie accessory!)! She helped him with his homework, kissed his boo-boos, showed him love, taught him to be a kind, decent, compassionate, loving and all around GOOD human being (despite being from Krypton). Now THAT'S a hero!

Plus, in deference to you Lonnie, she can rock an apron like nobody's business. Yeah, I went there.

    How about Clea?
Power aside, a HOT chick (Clea) is always going to sell better than an old hag (Agatha)...it's just basic business sense.
