If you WANT opinion, here it is:
I grew up with megos and have been restringing them since about 1974
When I saw the doc mego body I was blown away.
When I saw the ctvt body I was horrified.

Because I pretty much had all the megos I would ever need in my life before the retro thing happened, I had already moved on from mego.
Coming back to it I really had a hard time even accepting CTVT figures.
The rubbery heads, the rubber shoes. The bodies that just seem cheap and waxy compared to mego.
I was used to mego knockoffs from the 70's & 80's being of FAR higher quality than CTVT.
I never imagined replacing the bodies on so many figures before.
People used to confuse mego shoes with being rubber, but ctvt shoes are REALLY rubber.
If you never owned the originals you will probably be fine with Ctvt.
Like Microman, Action man, Cyborg, etc. reissues The originals were always more defined and you can tell the difference. Only with Ctvt the manufacturing quality is distinctly different.
    Cheers,
    Guyx1

You get a good deal for what you pay. Some of the stuff like the WGSH boots and gloves are spot on, while other stuff is bad. The necks rip easy, the bodysuits are often too small for a real mego body, etc.
If you're looking for a balance between quality and price, this is a good spot to visit.
I wish they still had new lines coming out.

There is such a disparity in their heads sizes, I was surprised. Some are too small and some are comically big.

Big fan of their civilian clothes, though some fits are too tight on a Doc body. I think the CTVT body shrunk up a little bit.

Hey, what's the trick to dealing with their female heads? The neck plug won't work on a Mego or EMCE female body, right?

all the female figures with neck stems are good with emce female bodies(except lily and the salem witch, because of color).i am hoping that the good doctor gets the plug version made so that i can fix joannie, mrs.c,peggy, sandra, female alien, lucy etc, otherwise ill have to use bif bang pows lost female bodies, and i cant do that till the prices drop, but they will look good.

The neck stem on my female bodies - and the plate inside the torso to keep
the neck from falling into the torso - can be removed easily by snipping
the rubber band that connects the neck to the torso.

After the neck stem is removed, stick the prong of a fork (or any other
thin metal stick) into the holes that the rubber band went into
            and pop out the plate.

Viola! Instant female body with a hole instead of a neck.

hello dr.mego, you were right on ,i used my thread needle that i have fixed megos with for the last 35 years ,and it worked just fine, didnt have to cut the band,so i can use it on something else,i fixed sandra, joanie and with that extra body you sent(thank you)fixed peggy bundy, and they look fantastic, ill be ordering more for mr.s c,female alien, marcey, and i got to get on those male bodies to change over, those female bodies from cttv were awful,to bad because they really put out the effort, the rest of the figures were great .thanks again dr.paul mego

I was all set to grab a heap of Space 1999 and Mad Clown figures, but considering that TWO of my FOUR CTVT figures have production/lousy workmanship issues, I'll probably pass. Its a shame as well, because I really like the look of many of the characters...
(My Gruesome Ghost lost a leg while my wife was posing him, and my Salem Witch is made so poorly that her joints dont even match-up correctly...)

Maybe the Space 1999 figures are better off? Who knows...

Sorry to hear that you chose against getting more, they had issues with the bodies at first but have improved. Are you happy with the clothing and extras?I've seen pictures of your extras in the tubs you could always swap out the bodies, just a thought.

You (as well as others..) are right, its probably best if I just consider them 'heads and suits' rather than full figures. I was offered heaps of Space 1999 figures for $2 each, and although I know NOTHING about the characters, it would be cool to have some random aliens and soforth.
(I also love their Monsters and Clowns...just a damned SHAME they dropped the ball SO badly on those torsos... )

Cripes man, whats to be SORRY for?? ..They were GIFTS for god's sake!

I have four from the Monster series, and of the four, only my Frankenstein (Also a gift, oddly) is decent, the other three look like they were put together out of incompatable parts by a blind man!

I LOVED the 1999 line.. Wished for the Alpha blue snow suits, instead of the one-episode type characters offered, but it's just grabbing the space suits and YR2 coats/uniforms and using your existing heads and bodies..

The space suits are GREAT on the existing Palitoy line.. They look much better on your standard T2 bodies.

Was always going to use my Starsky as a YR2 Bill Frasier anyways..

Yeah, but a broken toy is still a broken toy. I've had okay luck with those in the past... the Grim Reaper however is total trash straight out of the package.

I got the Space 1999 figures recently and found the female figures all had broken ankles. The boots are just too hard for the light plastic that is used. The Maya figure even had a broken knee and wrist. To there credit after I called about the problem they call back saying that they opened some up and found ones that weren't broken are are sending them to me.
