    The NEW Action Jackson

Okay no company is reviving AJ as far as I know.

    But if we could...

What should we change, what should we keep?

I am not a fan of any of the heads used for AJ in any incarnation, Mego and Playing Mantis. These faces just don't do anything for me. Nothing in a positive way anyway. They just don't say ""Bold Adventure" to me. I like the Pota Astronaut, Blackbeard and SWAT Deacon heads, personally.

Packaging. Boxed is nice, carded has advantages too. The box with the card flap was cool. The way he was sold has gone through three different versions too. Original with variants in hair color and race and suit colors. Send version original same as before but wearing outfits from the collection. Third version PM style with some hair color differences and complete adventure packaged with the figure, spy, diver and WW2 soldier.

I like the first version best. Very "Joe" esque. Then the separate outfits and equipment available later.

Speaking of equipment and outfits...What would the focus be here? AJ was kind of more like Big Jim it seemed, with the equal emphasis on sports to "adventure" outfits but then the final third of his outfits were military like the 60's Joes. I would have preferred to see more of an emphasis on "adventure" personally. More AT like. I would like to see it kept in the 70's though. Maybe some space stuff added in too.

Maybe some playsets too. Like a Skylab set. A Shuttle type kite glider. Maybe a plastic Lincoln Futura Spy Car, he heh heh.

Agree completely. I would love a scaled down 12" GI JOE Adventure Team type of thing (but then again, I had those as a kid). Some Major Matt Mason influence certainly would be appreciated too, if we're doing "blue sky" sort of imagining (IMHO).

I'm thinking the Will Scarlett/Zorro head would do nicely. It's got a nice sculpt to it, without being too bland.

The outfits could definitely use updating; how about urban adventure?

Long leather like duster, turtleneck, slacks and boots, along with shoulder holster and shades.

Did AJ ever have a formal outfit, i.e. a tuxedo? Well, one of those would be nice. Something that wouldn't look out of place on James Bond.

For casual butt kicking of bad guys, I'd suggest jeans, workboots, and a fitted t-shirt.

I'd make him look visually like AJ, but actually make him handsome and rugged, not ugly and effeminate. Take the bearded version of the original sculpt, and somehow rework it, but keep it recognizable. Make him a Chuck Norris-in-his-prime looking guy. Go with the darker blue jumpsuit and tive him some utility pouches/pockets and a belt.

I would use the Bruce Wayne head with blue eyes like 'Mystery Astronaut' I always thought he looked cool in that AJ Baravelli ad. Thats how AJ should have looked.

I have actually been goofing around with Action Jackson --- This was my first idea on what would have been cooler than a jumpsuit..... I am reworking the belt and holster idea --
I am also re-working the Jungle adventure look --- with a web belt and such.
There is definately a lot that could have been done with AJ.
Don't be sorry. How would you know? You've been watching MTV all your life.

That beard has got to GO!

He looks like a holdover from the hippie era with that thing.

Ned Flanders is better looking that Action Jackson, and man that is really saying something!

Nah... (or we create a team where one of them is clean shaven and rugged).

Maybe in a way to reach out the the Adventure Team community, we make them .... FUZZHEADS!!

Kidding, just kidding (there's probably a hidden Hasbro legal clause somewhere incurring severe penalty and loss of limb if anyone does!)

I like Blackbeard for the bearded AJ.
Just thinking that the doll series were named Action Jackson and GI Joe, but Joe's team was named Adventure Team. ...Maybe a team name...Bold Adventure? It would fit with the song.
Galahad or Lancelot for the main head? Lance would look cool. Of course Pota Naut actually LOOKS like the drawing of AJ on the figure box. And Deacon isn't a Mego sculpt but he is a cool AA AJ sculpt I think.

I think the head sculpt should have had a more rugged look to it, and would have liked to see add on's to the jungle house as far as playsets go.

I would have also liked to see AJ have a female counterpart. Sort of a 99 type, It sure made Max happy!

If Marty does decide to take this mego thing anyplace, this would be a good one to start.
Some more current looking AJ figures. I few different heads on them, like some mentioned in this tread. Then, put some hands on them that can actually hold the accessories.
Last, I would upgrade the arm/shoulder, so at the very least, it would work like the original Teen Titan body. Slap together a TV commercial with some kids in the back yard and who knows!
