It's time for Action. Mister Action!

A very nice little pick-up from my local Toy Fair last weekend, the seller thought I was bonkers :-)

    He may be right.

70's LJN 12" GI Joe Knockoff MOC:

That white in the *ahem* groinal region is the "Made in Hong Kong" tag.

Yes, that's right, the packer managed to not only put his shorts on back-to-front, they are inside-out too. Must have been distracted by having to-pack in all the other clothes and accessories :-)

The slanted "i" in the logo is a nod to the old Pailtoy logo I think?

    Cheers!
    Will

Knock Offs are too much fun to pass up! These guys were the absolute worst!

    Good score!

I assume you'll keep him MIB. The best part of finding these guys loose is popping off their heads and putting them on Cotswold bodies. Suddenly GI Joe has a worthy and formidable opponent!

Mr Action is cool. There is a nice Mr. Action Double Action figure that is super posable like a MEGO but is hard to find. Mr Action has some cool vehicles and play sets that fit in great with Gijoe. Congrats on find.

I had some Mr Action outfits as a kid, still have one where I drew the Adventure team logo on them.

I also have an early LJN catalog where they call him "Action Man", I can't imagine what made them change the name...

Wasnt there also a more articulated Mr. Action? I recall seeing them with the exact same articulation and body design as the 8" figures? ....Or was that sold under a different name?

He looks like He's ready for Some " Action " in Barbie's Swimming Pool.

AAAAA -Wow you really know your stuff, I hadn't counted all the MR A varations but your number sounds right. That bag of accessoreis had many favorite pieces from my childhood in it. Still Have my original scuba mask, fins, and Sailor cap that were given to me by a friend in 1974 . During the peaceful 1970s it was hard to get anything near military to play with so Mr Action stepped in with the M-16's and a whole lot of fun stuff.

I tell you most of my joes were outfited with LJN equipiment in the 70's. the soft plastic ,mess kits, the the splints and bandages the Grenades, dinamite ,M 1 rifle were unbreakable and lasted forever. the scuba tank were great that they were blow molded plastic and did not break.
I found a Hasbro Mouth piece i cut and stuck on the breathing hose.
had alot of pool adventures with that Mr.Action scuba gear.

Mr Action was really the number 2 after Gijoe in producing uniforms, vehicles, and playsets. Some very nice quality early on.The Mr Action Land/Sea sled was genius though I only saw it in Catalogs.

I also liked the early LJN stuff with Race Car Driver,College Casual (with the ultracool Peace sign on shirt), Doctor and Karate uniforms. I liked Jungle Guerilla set too though I didn't know what the name meant back then LOL We thought Gijoe was running around the jungle acting like a gorilla.

The back of the package was awesome too with pictures of a Gijoe SOTW figure with wicked added side burns wearing all the uniforms. I looked for that figure at K-mart for a long time.
