Pretty good tutorial.Wanted:
Diamond select Spider-man hands. Long shot, I know...but ya never know.. -
So this shouldn't be too difficult to repair at the factory. It wouldn't require a new tool to be made, just modification to the existing tooling, which makes the claims that Mego corrected the issue that much more believable.
I just hope we start seeing the new knees soon, but I also want to see more than just WGSH.Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figuresComment

It's not hard. Marx did it all the time. You just add a metal to the die that has a higher melting point than the plastic. Super easy to do, industry standard, in fact.Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figuresComment

Hasbro did it often with 90s/2000s GI Joe & Action man.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

Exactly. Pretty sure they use Aluminum. Higher melting point than plastic, but lower than the steel the toy dies are cut from.
If they decide they want to change it back, all they have to do is melt out the aluminum.Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figuresComment

I'm not sure that's true. This is what a few seconds of research got me.
Modifying or making changes to an existing injection mould tool can cost several hundred dollars, or even as much as building a new mould.
"Increase the size, shape, or wall thickness of the part: while it’s costly and difficult (for all practical purposes, near impossible) to add metal to the inside of an existing mold, it is possible to incrementally remove material from the mold to increase your final part’s size, shape or wall thickness. The new design, should however, be followed by a mold flow analysis to determine any risk for potential sinks before proceeding with any modifications."Comment

Also...
Mold modifications may require making a new mold or even part of a new mold. Or, it might be addressed by modifying the existing mold, saving time and money.
"If you believe changes to your design may require the mold to be tweaked, you’ll want to try to make your design metal-safe. Since metal can be removed from the mold but not added,"Comment

Suit yourself. I'm telling you, I've seen Marx do it, and I know Mattel did it with M.U.S.C.L.E.
And i know the way they did it was to fill in the cavity with metal.Looking for Green Arrow accessories, Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver, and Japanese Popy Megos (Battle Cossack and France, Battle of the Planets, Kamen Rider, Ultraman) and World Heroes figuresComment

The HLH Rapid link you provide describes just such a process to which I referred.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment
