I should add I am in a sell down mode and low cash flow mode and just too much stuff mode so I think I’m actively looking for reasons not to buy.

lol, the 5$ difference might be enough for you but I bought my first Spidey sets on the aftermarket so will gladly pay the $99 this time around.

My feeling is, if I really wanted it, I would have put it in my cart. When I hem and haw and debate, that's me telling myself I don't really want it, or the buyer's remorse later.

I don’t blame you. When it’s “Just another $5” every time you turn around in this economy, it starts to get old very quickly. If it’s not feeling right, let it go. If that means you pay more later when it does feel right, then so be it.

It's not five dollars more per figure, it's only two fifty more each. The p;rice for production was higher for this set because there were a lot more accessories to tool for three of the figures. I see that as acceptable reason for paying more. Thor had new boots that can't be reused, a helmet, and a hammer. Iron Man had new boots, gloves, and a belt that are also character specific and not transferable to other characters. Captain America got the shield. That's a lot of cash put out for the injection molds for just this set.
