I was never a fan of the Hammer films. I did watch "The Gorgon" about a month or two ago after I picked up the Mego Medusa on eBay for $35.00.

Thank you for posting these great photos!

I have the Van Helsing version with the lighter coat and cardback. I've never actually seen that darker one before!

I've also never seen any of those Mego 2-packs in any brick-and-mortar store where I live. But I did buy this Dracula 2-pack online when I saw it for sale at an attractive price and still think it's great. Each Halloween since I bought it, I set the figures up on a bookshelf in the living room. As I wrote in a prior post above, I still can't totally believe that Mego came back to life over the last 5-7 (-ish) years and that they made Hammer figures. So that pseudo-disbelief adds an extra element to their display at Halloween.

I do like many of the Hammer films, especially the Dracula series (even the last one), but, that said, I don't think "The Gorgon" on its own would be likely to create too many Hammer fans. Not one of Hammer's finest, in my personal opinion....

Hammer along with Cushing and Lee, did a fantastic job recreating the universal monsters in there own special British way.

Lee’s Dracula was probably his best, with the Mummy a close second. If only we got sequels to the Mummy and Werewolf like they did with Dracula and Frankenstein, I think it easily could have been made, especially the Mummy or a remake with Lee’s Frankenstein battling Reed’s Werewolf.

Speaking of Peter Cushing, is it possible to make a custom Mego Grand Moff Tarkin? that would be cool.

The basic Hammer Frankenstein figure I had ordered arrived today. In person, it looks better to me than it did in photos, which I am definitely happy about.

But I bought, I think, every other Hammer figure in the Mego line before this one because I didn't think it looked as good as many of the others and because, to me, the lasting impression of the Hammer Frankenstein films is that the 'real monster' isn't the creature, but the doctor. Also, I didn't think that the face make-up on Christopher Lee in the first Hammer Frankenstein film was a strength of the film - and to me, the one thing that makes this Mego figure distinct is the head sculpt.
