It's much more expressive than most of Wave One.
Agreed! Batman will be always my favorite Mego figure, but Shazam is my #2! ( Falcon and Robin remain my tied for #3).

While I think the original Shazam head is a good sculpt in it's own right (I used it for a lot of customs back in the day), it bears only a little resemblance to the comic version. I think they were going for a kind-of likeness to one of the actors who played him in the TV show. It's sort of an amalgam of comic book, actor and something else that looks good as a generic head, but no one would look at it and say, "Hey, that's the Big Red Cheese!" unless they knew it was supposed to be. Honestly, even back in the day, I didn't use him as Shazam; he was a guy called Electroman with lightning powers to me.

That said, I like the idea of having both the classic and now an updated, more hopefully accurate version (as long as the size issue doesn't rear its ugly head, pun intended). I like being able to have a version just like the original for nostalgia reasons, and a newer, better version is also welcome to hopefully start a new display of "this is what we can do nowadays" comic based Megos.

Note: Just found an image I recalled from the 70's that stuck with me; wouldn't mind if they came out like this:
