That would be great but with the line "we can't spell it out for you, but we promise it'll be magical" I still think it will be about Harry Potter but your list would be much better and something I'd actually like to see.

I just hope it's not another non-super hero line.

                        re Wikipedia:
As of 2009, Home Alone was the highest-grossing comedy of all time
...while you take something like Nightstalker---I wouldn't have even heard of it, if I didn't hang on boards like this. In other words, I'd gamble on Home Alone before many other franchises as far as a figure line.

Nightstalker has built in monsters, Home Alone has Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. hmm, which line would move better.

I'd rather they redo Robin Hood, with ACTUAL likenesses of Errol Flynn, Olivia deHavilland, Basil Rathbone, Alan Hale Sr., and Claude Rains.
I've never watched "A Christmas Story" all the way through; just not my kind of movie, I guess. But I can see some demand for figures from it. TNT runs it for 24 hours every Christmas Eve, and it is a well known and generally well liked film, so there's definitely a market there.

Still, we know they have the Potter license, and the hint definitely points in that direction, so that's the most likely bet for tomorrow's reveal.

Sabrina the teenaged witch? Archie Comics style?

I'd really rather see Harry Potter than A Christmas Story. Even getting a decent Santa figure to go on top of my Christmas tree would not be worth putting off the figures I'd like to see. I repeat, the world really doesn't need a figure of a dorky kid in a bunny suit with a bb gun. Even as a child, a figure like that would only be used to shoot with a bb gun.

                                Good, valid question.

It's like an "apples" (franchise recognition)/"oranges" (playability) thing that always seems deceptively easy to make conclusions with. I've given up pushing my own conclusions, because, ultimately, I just don't have enough of the hard data on what's been going on in the toy biz since the adult collectible market has developed into a huge part of the overall toy market.

In these cases like (Home Alone vs. Nightstalker), I tend to think it's mostly about recognizability of the brand/franchise (and not as much about "playability") due to most buyers being adult collectors. i.e. "Hey, I'm a fan of so-and-so, so this has to grace my shelf, regardless of how silly a choice it was for an action figure." or "Hey, it's time for me to get a gift for my forty-something year old friend, and he's a fan of such-and-such movie, and so I'll get him a figure from it, and I'm done shopping. Plus, it's such an odd choice for an action figure---there's kitsch value there in itself."

This actually somewhat relates to that misunderstanding we had a few weeks back (T-Bolt) regarding the success of the FTC Batman 1966 line amidst the overall success of Batman '66 products in general. My curiosity spawned certain questions that I'm pretty sure you didn't know why I was asking in the first place.

Ultimately, upon further thought, I don't think it's possible to have any definitive data regarding what makes or breaks a line as far what sells that partiocular product...there's just a bit too many factors. So, it's fun to conjecture---but, I won't pretend to know any definitive answers
