It seems like one dilemma FTC will have in extending the line is, do they go forward with new figures that fit in with the old Mego figures, or do they start doing the updated & improved style? I want a Flash that fits in with the original figures, goofy and all, but I definitely want a Flash that fits in with a Neal Adams Batman and Superman too. Doing one or the other will probably split sales and who knows if there is enough of a market for both. Alfred and Commissioner Gordon seem like they will fit in better with the Neal Adams Batman than the Mego repros.

And while Wonder Woman has pre-sold out at one online store, I also wonder if we are just seeing the power of the Batman license in sales so far. Teen Titans could be selling really well, but I thought they would sell out before the Batman Series 3 (which may have had fewer made). The first release of others in the DC license will be telling for FTC.

As long as we get the full roster of DC Mego figures, this line has to be considered a resounding success!

This is worse than being a kid and having to wait for Christmas! Have been tracking my TT set and yesterday, delivery was set for today. I just checked and now the FedEx sight says next Monday! C'mon! Quit toying with me!

I think the Alfred and Gordon sculpts will be sort of inbetween the original Mego style and we we'll likely see from the 'new' Batman and Robin sculpts. It will be interesting to see what they do with these, if they give us sculpts that are a bit more in line of the sculpts on the 12" magnetic Mego Batman and Robin figures, they could be very popular.

I do hope that FTC decides to get into the Superman and JLA characters next before they get into the Fist Fighters, but it's beginning to look like that won't be the case.

I'm really hoping they don't get lost in the minutia of what constitutes a "Mego-sculpt". I think a good sculpt is a world unto itself. No one is chasing Hot Toys. Mego had more than their share of solid head sculpts without having to think about a specific style they created. I hope FTC follows with the same thinking. I just don't see a scenario where people say," You know, that head sculpt is TOO good." If they make a good sculpt, it will be popular and more importantly, sell.

I agree, Mego itself wasn't consistant in 'style,' compare Hulk, Thor, Conan, the Lizard and Reed Richards with Aquaman, Captain America, Wonder Girl and even the molded cowl Batman. Some are pretty good sculpts and likenesses and some are kind of bubble headed charactures. Don't get me wrong, I loved them all. But even Mego had some pretty good sculpts on some figures. I'd say planet of the apes and Star Trek were very good sculpts. Had Mego continued they like any other company would of tried to improve their product, they would of tried to hire better and better sculptors, they would of tried to add more accessories and improved upon the costumes... from paper sticker emblems to vinyl heat pressed. From fraying capes to vinyl, from Type 1 bodies to Type 2, etc. etc. They probably eventually would of done away with the rubber bands, like some fo the bodies we have now.

Mego would have kind of ignored the 8" format and went all out on micronauts and went belly up. So with that Mego did what they did and didn't go any farther. The reason I buy these is because of the tie they have with original megos if I for one wanted " what Mego would have done figures " ( which by the way is someone else's opinion on what Mego would have done) I would buy customs or make my own. As long as FTC stays with what they are doing they will make money once they go straying off well just look at doc retro figures and such.

Well... my point was Mego improved head scuplts, costumes and bodies throughout their run. They didn't stay exactly the same, the Reed Richards headscuplt is far superior to the older Megos.. so if FTC reproduces the originals and improves upon sculpts, costumes and bodies as Mego themlseves did.. I have no issue with it. I don't think Commissioner Gordon's head is too detailed to be Mego-ish any more than Reed Richard's head was.

As for "what Mego would have done" figures.. I think what is always implied is what would they have done if they had continued making 8" super heroes, which I think would be pretty obvious in the sense that they would of continued to make other characters like Flash and Green Lanturn, etc. Their detailing and bodies would of improved over the years, just as it did while they were making figures. In what way? Who knows. But I think the real core of the issue is what exactly constitutes authentic Mego-like if both the original type 1 Captain America is one as is a type 2 Thor or Reed Richards? Its a range of level of detail and quality. So far, nothing I have seen that came out of FTC (in these hero lines) has fallen outside that range. I even think they could get even more detailed with head sculpts and costumes and still fall within that range, thats my opinion.

The Mattel Retro Action stuff fell because of Mattel's crappy body and marketing.

Has FTC corrected their quiver to the original Mego style, or are they using their CTVT mold with the altered strap? The coloring definitely looks better.

Got my set of Teen Titans while I was away on vacation and opened them up last night. As a kid, I only had WG and from my memory, FTC hit really close to the original. I had to completely restyle her hair (what is up with the bed head?) but overall she's pretty cool. I did pull her head up a bit as well so it sits higher on her neck and looks more normal. The guys, well, I like them for the most part as well but those short pants and sleeves, I'm not too sure about. If they would have made them all at least a 1/4" longer, I could tuck them in to the gloves and boots but but it didn't work on any of them. Just too short. Aqualad looks great next to Aquaman but the other two guys just look like funny little people next to their counterparts. All in all though, I'm glad I got them. Thanks FTC!

Yeah, that has me wondering how they will apply those new characters. My hope is the EE exclusive is Robin in that scale for the original line and then they'll reboot the Titans in the new 8 inch scale moving forward. I just can't see making a Cyborg and Raven in that scale and finding a consumer that embraces them. They'll look too much like kids trick or treating next to regular Megos. Fingers crossed Robin ends that scale (for nostalgia) and then they kick butt with new eight inch versions.

I believe after the smaller Robin, FTC has confirmed all future Titans figures will be 8 inchers. I think the 2nd wave is Cyborg, Raven, Nightwing and Starfire.

I agree with you completely. They would look like they were trick or treating! I think an 8" Cyborg is a MUST!

If they do reboot to eight inch, I think it almost becomes a necessity to revisit those original four, otherwise you have a fragmented Titans line up (from a scale perspective anyway). Those outfits on Speedy and Kid Flash can then be updated to fit like a regular Mego bodysuit covering all the legs and feet. Those could be incredibly cool. Give them all that classic look from artist George Perez.

^ Perhaps a third wave could be 8" Kid Flash, Changeling/Beast Boy, Wondergirl, & foe Baron Blood or Dr. Light.
