[QUOTE=ThePlayerOnTheOtherSide;1131838]I think some collectors are confused: This line isn't about replicating Mego-era superhero figures, it's about replicating the actual Mego figures. Some people scoffed when FTC didn't 'fix' the Speedy suit. There was nothing wrong with it, they did it exactly how Mego did. Which is the whole point.[QUOTE]

I'm not confused--I understand FTC's intention completely. It appears though they might be bending their rules a bit with Mr. Mxyzptlk & details on the next wave such as RC Batman's vinyl cape and RM Robin's mask

Mego's Speedy--vintage or otherwise--was "wrong" in the sense of being off-model: Not as much as Captain America, but more so than Mxyzpltlk. I love Mego figure for what they were, are, and could be--I do hope the line continues long enough to see some revisions.

I agree with your statement about FTC's "mission", but when they start to fudge things a bit--as they did even at the outset--it's fair to ask, "Why this, but not that?

Just one thing. I said in my review of the Catwoman figure that her head was made of very hard plastic. I contacted FTC, and they confirmed that ALL of their new retro figures will have those same types of plastic heads.

Won't that make body swapping a tad difficult? I don't think it will be possible to soften the plastic with a hair dryer.

If it is, however, drop me a line and tell me so.

So far they haven't changed the LOOK of the figures, which is most important IMO. The changes they've made have been in materials, such as the vinyl cape or the symbols being part of the suits vs stickers.

There's a big difference between changing materials used in the costumes and changing the costumes themselves. I'm fine with them giving us figures with altered costumes from the original Megos, as long as they give us the original Mego figures first.

Not only that, the head fit with the Type S body seems inconsistent. I've tried swapping 3 different figures heads so far. Robin fit like a drum, Batman was loose as a goose, and Dick Grayson was slightly loose.

Oddly, I've had no problems at all switching FTC figures onto new bodies, but I've been using the Type Z bodies.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between Type S and Type Z by the way? Is the Type Z a new version of the Type S? And is it no longer available? (I bought 20 last month to get the discount.) Because no one seems to mention the Type Z anymore.

^I think you are confusing the two bodies: The Zica body produced a few years ago was taller, more muscled, & more articulated... It was featured on the Zica Buck Rogers line.

The Type S (solid) body, is an update of Castaway's reMego body--it is Mego style, but modernized in its joint articulation & armature. It has been offered discounted and is a collaboration between Zica and Castaway.

Typically here, the older unique Zica body is called Zica; the newer collaboration reMego body is considered by CAW/Zica as Type S.

The Zica bodies are no longer produced & overstock has been sold. The molds are now owned by DST.
