As a star wars collector I collect what I think is cool. As far as older stuff (97-2000) it's pretty cheap for now. I mainly like stormtroopers and other fighting units (rebel soldiers, snow troopers, biker scouts) but I also like a lot of the old stuff. A lot of the stuff (the book figures) I don't relate to so I leave them alone.

Thanks for all the advice guys---the Fett pack sounds cool IF the Fett can compete
with the VOTC version as far as articulation---if not---well---I'll hunt down the VOTC Fett-
--I'm basically just looking for the best articulated figures first and foremost.
I'm easy to please---there was ONE new Lobot made---but he has articulated elbows
and more realistic (less buff) build---so I'm stoked to get that new LOBOT.
As far as Stormtroopers go---I only need one (or POSSIBLY two)
and the only one to buy as far as I know for my personal tastes is
the VOTC version---I hear----along with the VOTC Fett, he's one of the best SW figures ever made"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

The Vintage Carded Style figures are always done well. I have a few extras of some of them
...I'll have to check to see which ones because I don't remember off hand.
that you're a hardcore SW Hasbro guy)---and loose figures are better because I display
loose anyway ---
thanks grayhank---and again thank you ALL
like spider said---MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

The Legends Boba Fett is the same figure as the VOTC one.

I've read a few say that's the best STAR WARS 3 3/4 figure ever produced"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment

If you're interested in the VOTC figures I can get you a near complete set with the exception of maybe C-3PO, R2-D2, and Chewbacca. I've got a direct account with Hasbro and I'm sitting on quite a few cases of these from when they first came out.Comment

LEIA, LANDO---those are the ones that seem to be have gotten
great reviews and have nice articulation---I display my figures loose though
---so it may not be in our best interets to strike a deal for case fresh figures.
Thank you for the suggestion though---and feel free to PM me if
you think a deal can be reached."No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. you cant go wrong with the votc figures. that's actually the only one i collect from the whole star wars universe! simply because they are well made, i like the vintage style cards, and they dont release them so frequently so it keeps me from going broke!!Comment

Something else to think about tracking down if you can is the Wal-Mart's Early Bird set from a few years back. The Luke in this set is my favorite because his lightsaber slides out of his hand just like the original Kenner one. Don't know how much they go for on-line.Comment

Hiya Huedell,
I have dabbled in the Hasbro SW with my ebay trading post. My picks from the recent batches for the classic 12 figures.
Vader - 30th anniversary (tac) #16. This is a repaint of the evolutions Vader and is a fine version with ball joints almost everywhere and cloth goods. Another low budget version is the tin packs they had at WalMart awhile back. Those Vaders were a repack of the votc. If you are not trying to collect carded items, those are both stellar display and fiddly toys.
Luke - I personally like the reissue 'early bird' thing. The Luke is a one off here that will never see a repack. He has a very retro telescoping saber. The VOTC is ok, but the cloth goods are a little bulky looking. The Saga collection (tsc from 2006) #36 is pretty fun as it has the floppy hat and pancho, along with Bens crate (with removable Anakin saber). There really is no perfect farmboy Luke, but those would be my top picks.
Leia - Also from the redo early bird set. Not very poseable, but a good likeness of the character. The Votc is good, but is also a bit awkward with the cloth goods.
Chewbacca - One more from the early bird. This is the VOTC figure with a different headsculpt. I like the early bird for all the figures, you get a unique Luke, a pretty cool Leia (this one has been repacked somewhere I think, but it was originally unique to the eb set.) and slightly altered versions of the VOTC Chewy and R2. This would lead to....
R2-D2. Man, there are a gazillion versions of these. The early bird one is basically the Votc without the accessories. The votc is good as well. The ROTS version with the electronic sound feature is also pretty fun. If you want to be a little eccentric, there is a battery operated remote control R2 that is just about in scale with the rest of the line that was imported by StarWars.com. I think it might have been made by TOMY, but I am not exactly sure. Here is a link to the scum description. Rebelscum.com: Star Wars Revenge of the Sith Photo Archives
C-3PO - The 2006 tcs 42 is GREAT! bendable knees at last. Plus he is not as dinky as the VOTC. I personally do NOT like the VOTC 3p0.
Han Solo. The Votc has two good ones here. From Star Wars with blue pants and the trenchcoat Jedi version with brown pants. Both basically the same.
Ben Kenobi - Pretty much the VOTC is the finest version of this one. Hasbro has not spent too much time on the classic trilogy Kenobi.
Stormtrooper. votc is good. There have been updates to that one tho. The evolutions body was pretty good. There have been a bazillion Sandtrooper versions in the last year and they were built on either of the above original sculpts. These can be stripped down to your standard trooper. And there was the TAC #20. This one has a removable helmet if you want to see what might be under there.
Death Star Commander - Reborn as the Death star trooper Tac#30. tops.
Tuskin Raider (Sandpeople) - The VTSC (vintage the saga collection) from 2006 is cool. He has also been released in multi packs with the Bantha.
Jawa - there is no good version of the Jawa. If I were to pick one for display, however, it would be the TAC #19 version that came with the LIN droid.
OK, that is the mirror of the original 12 Kenner figs. For a nice display, I would start with that early bird kit as you can get the backdrop that goes with it and set the original 12 up there next to their sketch. You then have 4 figures to start with and can dig the rest up fairly easily.
As I said, I have sold these, so if you are stuck while looking, send me a pm and I can see if I still have anything left in my inventory.
Have a good time

wow rche!
Thank you for the informative post---yes indeed, that was exactly the kind of
information I needed.
rche---I'm betting between you and Speed and grayhank---I'll have access to
so many cool Hasbro SW figs at an affordable price that I really won't even need
to go to Ebay for a while----that's pretty dang cool.
I'll be in touch once I figure out what I'm purchasing from the others
Thanks guys!"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris MannixComment
