Anyone remember Exclusive Premiere toy company?

I got my dad a Rowdy Yates/Clint Eastwood figure from Rawhide. It's still on display in his bonus room.

I liked the Bond figures, although I think they would have looked better if they were Mego scale, the smaller bodies and heads got a little lost in the costume fabric at the 6 -7" scale.

I have the Gilligan's Island and Honeymooner's sets. Exclusive Premiere was always pretty inconsistent with their product. I remember the Duke's figures didn't even credit Waylon Jennings for the title song. They gave credit to Merle Haggard. So their eye for detail and just basic facts iconic to these shows have been a bit off. That being said, I am fond of both sets I have. I think between them I like the Honeymooners the most simply because there are no other figures out there. FTC did a fine job with Gilligan's Island but we only got two characters. Not sure how much they will tread into other licensing like Honeymooners, Abbott & Costello, or other golden age icons from the early years of television.

I remember seeing them at ToysRUs and thinking they just looked crappy. the Famous Covers were better and I think came out around the same time

I forgot about the TV Westerns, I have the Gunsmoke.

I saw the Country Music at a truck stop around 2000.

When I 1st got on the Internet in 1998 Exclusive Premiere had a site with a forum for figure suggestions. The moderator would answer questions every day. Then EP went out of business and the moderator came back and told fans he did not realize how bad the site had become, EP figure sales never were stellar, and EP really did not care about fan input. He posted this after losing his job with EP at his own risk and thanked the few EP fans for helping him make the most of a boring job.

That was a disappointment, but only stores like TRU, KayBee Toys, and Target carried the EP figures not enough mass market appeal for $20 Mego figures back then.

That's why FTC is doing it right now big nostalgic licenses aimed at adult collector base directly from FTC and online stores. Never thought I'd see DC Megos again much less Batman 66, Hanna Barbara, etc! The REAL Mego is back!

There likeness across the board were pretty good. I loved their Roger Moore and Sean Connery figures.

I wonder why their Pierce Brosnan figure was so terrible. Looked nothing like him. I wonder if there was some kind of likeness issue.

Was hoping they'd get to Dalton and Lazenby. Both they gave their Bond line a good go.

They had to kinds of packages....carded and these little harder-to-describe shells.

I couldn't find much about them while doing a Google search. They don't even have a Wiki With that many excellent iicenses you would have thought they would have made more of a footprint.

The sculpting on the heads was more Mego-like to me, vs. Famous Covers. Especially their initial Joe Maduriera (sp) inspired "screamin' peaheads". But the overall quality varied wildly. And those hands!

People like me gravitated towards these back in the day due to attrition. Retro style Mego's were still a far off dream and the industry was just beginning to dip it's toe into the nostalgia market. So anything that resembled a Mego involving a license I liked, got my money. It's been very educational to read posts about the history of this company. I always wondered where they came from and who was behind that brief run of figures. It's another reminder of what a long and evolving arc the industry has taken to get to this point today.

I forgot we have The Miracle on 34th Street set. The Santa fits in really well with Megos, and goes in a Super Hero display every year.

Yeah, I still have Matt Dillon, as well as the Lone Ranger and Tonto, which came as a two-pack. The likeness of James Arness was actually really good, but it was kind of weak his gun was sculpted into the holster.

Does anyone know why they went out of business? (I know the short answer is that they didn't make enough money but does anyone know more?) They really did have an impressive range of licenses.
