Heck, an entire subculture has been built on emulating Scarface.
Sadly enough, glorifying happens to so many "evil" characters. Most kids will find Freddy Krueger "funny" (with his one-liners), yet you find tons of figures of what is basically a child molester and murderer.
As an adult, we can (or should) evaluate what we think of them, and keep them away from young kids.
But when you start digging a lot deeper, you can also find fault in what appear to be "good and righteous" characters. When The Avengers tear up a whole city, fighting evil, human lives will be lost, sometimes at their hands (without knowing it).
After having watched all of Breaking Bad, I can find little sympathy for Walter White. He is no hero. He does evil things. I don't think kids will go after his action figure, saying "I want to be like him when I grow up".

I think it was more of a problem of adults pawing through them right by kids trying to look at comics. Some guys just didn't care if little kids were there. It could be a little scary.

The Breaking Bad figures ARE in the Adult Collectibles section. And I think most kids would pass these by and say, "Who the heck is that old man?" And my point with the thread title, which was meant to be tongue in cheek, is buy them up now because this negative publicity is going to make these sell like hot-cakes, ala the Django figures. Guess I shouldn't have been so obtuse in my original post.

And I agree with Brian, it's not TRU's or anyone else's job, to help me parent my child. I'm sure many people would balk at the idea of a Freddy Krueger toy, but we're snatching those ReAction figures up, aren't we? And those horror toys are even in my Barnes & Noble right next to all those cute Pop! vinyl figures. Oh wait, they make a Leatherface one don't they??

What's next, "Florida Mom"? Should we ban steaks at restaurants because your baby can't chew it? (Thanks Mark Twain!)

Hopefully, TRU is smart enough to know that adult collectors are a big part of their customer base. I would have no problem with them moving the adult collector figures to a different area, but removing them all together would be a short-sighted action, in my opinion.

Daniel Pickett of Action Figure Insider has a petition on his Facebook page for keeping age 15+ figures in TRU. I signed it last night.

I've never had an interest in toys from slasher movies and I honestly find a lot of the Reaction figure choices kind of head scratching.

Toys R Us is children's toy store and I can understand people not caring for the idea of them selling action figures from purely adult properties. I'm okay with TRU selling the figures as long as they are in their own section away from the kid's lines.

You might not be buying them, but a LOT of people on this board are. And tons of others. And they are in the Adult Collectibles section as well. I just find it funny that the Breaking Bad stuff raises more hackles than murdering psychopaths.

Oh good. Another jackalope trying to dictate how the rest of the country should conduct their lives. It's not like TRU has a display at the front of the store showing WW coking up some meth with a "buy these on aisle 9" banner. She needs to find something else to do...like getting bent.

Sorry but TRU hasn't been a "children's store" since like the 80s. I see more adults by themselves when I take my 3yo then I do kids with parents.

Do they carry Walking Dead at TRU? I'm always glad those are out of eye level when we go to the comic shop. Dudes in hazmat suits are nothing to worry about, what boring figures for kids. It's the mutilated corpses I'd like to avoid.

I think it's fair that more adult toys be less accessible to kids, and I think TRU would be wise to keep certain things on higher shelves. I don't know about an "adult section". I already feel like a middle aged creep at TRU.

Yes they do carry TWD at TRU.

So, where does it end? Once they get rid of Breaking Bad, is TWD next? Then what? Robocop?, POTA (for its implied endorsement of evolution), where do you draw the line? When does it end?

I hope TRU puts its foot down on this one. I'm fed up with bored housewives telling me what I can and can't buy, and where I can buy it. If you, as a parent can't better decide what's right for your kids, that's your problem, not mine.

Toys R Us is and has always been a children's toy store.

They make their money off of big sellers like Lego, Monster High, Frozen, TMNT and Skylanders. That's their focus and main business. Yes, they recently also started to sell a small selection of adult collectables. But they don't sell anywhere even remotely close to kid lines like Monster High.

Seriously, that's a bit much. I read the interview with the woman behind this at cnn. She is not some old biddy with too much time on her hands as people have been insinuating. She even likes and watches the show. Her issue is selling the figures at a children's toy store.

"It's not "Breaking Bad" itself, Schrivjer hastens to add. She says she was a fan of the show.

"I thought the show was great," she said. "It was riveting."

But she draws the line at seeing the characters in Toys R Us. Her goal? "Just to get those taken off the shelf and put them in an appropriate store."

Sometimes I think adult collectors have become so entitled from constantly being catered to that the idea of adult collectables not being sold at a children's store is some how now anger inducing. Totally forgetting they could still get the adult lines at places like big bad toy store, entertainment earth, amok time, barnes and nobles, comic book stores, etc.

I'm, personally, not even against TRU carrying the figures. But they honestly should have the sense not to stock them in the same area with children's toys.

TRU isn't just for Children. They have sold Adult Collector product for a decade, and M-Rated games for over 20 years.

Her goal is attention. TRU IS an appropriate store. They're toys, TRU sells toys, ergo, appropriate.

I don't have a B&N nearby, I don't care for comic store markup, and I don't care for additional shipping costs. I like the convenience of finding toys I like in a store that sells Toys.

And they stock them in the adult collectible aisle, not next to Imaginext, or preschool stuff. They're already being responsible about it.

I don't like the show, nor the toys.

I also don't like adult magazines, and violent music.

I choose not to buy those things. What I don't do, is wage a war to keep them out of the hands of those who do, and take away their choices. Especially when the goal is not to protect children, but to get attention.
