Advocate all you want, but she wants to toys off the shelves. That's different than not patronizing the store and/or asking others not to either.Comment

Sadly, even though all she really wanted was attention, TRU finally caved. So, this will never end. Bored attention seeking moms know they can waddle into TRU, find something to get outraged about, and get to feel important when they rally other ignorant sheep to their cause.
What next? Peter Griffin made meth. Walgreens sells Family Guy figures. Better get the pitchforks and torches ready! Game of Thrones has Incest! Think of the Children!
I want a petition to remove Imaginext Batman from TRU. Batman is a violent vigilante, being marketed to toddlers.
The Joker is a depraved murderer, and he's got a preschool figure too.Last edited by Toy Timelord; Oct 22, '14, 2:31 PM.Comment

Way to stand up for yourselves TRU.
Ugh. I always end up hating everybody involved in these stories.Expectation is the death of discovery.Comment

I don't agree with TRU pulling the product from shelves, but I can fully understand where the mother's logic is in this. You can control what your kids watch on TV and what kind of video games they play, but when you walk into a store and these very adult figures are right next to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and Back to the Future toys, then YES, it's a problem. Some of the video game stuff is truly disturbing. McFarlane's Twisted Fairy Tale figures were especially sick. I wouldn't want my kid even seeing those hanging in the store.
I think they should just have an adult collectible toy section. Another great reason would be to keep kids often destructive little hands off collectible packaging. Then everybody would be happy.Comment

You think that they shouldn't have been pulled?
Fair enough.
What do you propose as a solution/compromise?
My problem is that she has made the decision, not for her kids, but for EVERY consumer. Myself included. Shouldn't that be my decision whether or not to buy them?
Should they be in a special adults only section? I think that sends a worse signal than keeping them up high in the appropriately marked part of the store for collector lines.
The toys are marked 'adult collector', and kept on the top pegs. If you don't want your child to see them, walk past it.
It's not like they're next to the baby registry, or the Legos.Last edited by Toy Timelord; Oct 22, '14, 4:49 PM.Comment

Hmm, the puppet character is pretty tame compared to what I had in mind when I read 'Saw Merchandise', but I stand corrected, nevertheless.
And now that I think on it, I do remember seeing it.
Still, it is not currently being sold at TRU.Last edited by Toy Timelord; Oct 22, '14, 5:15 PM.Comment

I can do this all day.
This probably was in TRU.You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

You've proven your point, but they're still pretty tame. Unless they released figures of the victims in their ironic torture devices, it's just a puppet and a dude with a knife.
But one thing of note is the Ages 18 and up marked clearly on the package.
These aren't marketed to children.Comment

You know, a lot of this comes down to education...unfortunately this is the world we live in. There are bad things in this world that our kids are gonna see, like it or not. It is our responsibility as parents to show our kids what is correct and right and to simply stay away from what we deem unacceptable. But these things are always gonna be there, always...people need to realize that calling national attention to the thing that is deemed unacceptable is gonna do nothing but expose more people to the thing you don't want them to seeYou will always be your child's favorite toy. ~Vicki LanskyComment

You assume a great deal about people you don't know. I happen to agree with mom. Am I seeking attention too?

I would actually love it if the collector figures were moved to a separate area, and it seems to be a very valid solution. I can't see why TRU would just roll over for one outraged individual.Expectation is the death of discovery.Comment
