They shoulda put him in red and white spandex with feathers.
I dunno... This just looks like someone from a GI Joe movie. In fact, so did the Winter Soldier himself. I know everyone is ga-ga over the film, but the verisimilitude of modern Superhero films has stifled the fun, colorful aesthetic that attracts me to Superheroes in the first place.

Or maybe some green, as his costume was originally tinted? If they had to go the camo route, a dark shade of green would have worked, IMO.Comment

I like the way they handled the design, it actually works for me, but I'm fed up with most characters being reduced to shades of grey. Color is important in the comics universe, and in the case of the Falcon, rather essential. It's part of the character. They could have toned down versions of the colors, but grey and black isn't right..

I'm all for being faithful to the comics, but Falcon in red and white in THIS film would have been ridiculous. Now if he wants to adopt those colors in Cap 3, that may make work. But the way the plot shook out in Winter Soldier, Sam's black ops military gear made perfect sense.

It's a really well done figure, very faithful to the movie. And I agree, while I miss the red and white, it wouldn't have worked in the film. I liked the movie, like the character and like how Hot Toys has captured his look. But like isn't enough to spend $200+ and then find a place to display him. So I'm passing on this one, but kudos to those that take the plunge.Comment

Hmm, I would disagree. I think that toned-down shades of red (like a burgundy) and off-white would have worked well. At least for the wings, and some red stripes on the outfit.
They did a great job on Cap for his colors in First Avenger, realistic colors but still red white and blue.
A falcon needs his colors!.

I would love if Marvel could start another universe of films completely faithful to the old skool comics of the silver and bronze age. Make 'em totally fun, very colorful, aimed at families and kids. I'm not suggesting Joel Schumacher levels of silliness, but I do wish we didn't have to take ourselves so seriously all the time when we go to the movies.
Perhaps Guardians of the Galaxy is more what I'm looking for.Comment

^I understand where you are coming from, but I feel the Marvel Studios films do a good job of balancing the "realism" Hollywood feels general audiences want, while still giving us fairly faithful comic costumes. Sure, Cap isn't in his classic comic garb, but we did get to see that, and his Avengers outfit was pretty "super-heroy". In pre-release photos I've questioned some of their decisions, but I've yet to be disappointed in the theater.
I'm anxious to see the new Batman look in color, as I feel we may have made a step in the right direction of finally getting a Batman close to the comic look (since Adam West, of course).
