EXACTLY. Do these guys not see the stupid high prices the vintage Marvel and DC sets command on Ebay? If they made straight up reproductions of those original sets, they could sell them as limited collector editions at a price point of about $100 and they'd sell like CRAZY. People who can't afford or even find mint originals would snap them up at that price, and I believe even collectors who own MIB originals would buy repro sets to actually play with and display.

Excuse me while I lift one leg and fart mightily at that myth. They've been claiming that for years. They are working with Go Hero to try and reinvent him as a high-end priced figure. Egads, there is no one on this planet that wears denial in failure better than these two clowns. The lights are turned out and everyone has gone home while they sit on the 50 yard line thinking there is one last play for this defunct line. Captain Action, the license, may continue to whomever braves the back-end backstabbing, but this latest venture in the modestly priced 12 inch scale is DEAD. No one buys a DC license and then does nothing with it for three years, unless one - they never had it, or two - they're still trying to get it. Every year all the competition puts out new product, while CAE puts out new excuses. Thank God they both have day jobs.Comment

They had built in brand recognition and even a Thor movie in theaters at the time and still bailed. Meanwhile, much smaller companies like Moebius and Monarch are putting out kits of the Munsters, '66 Batman, and Gorgo. Yeah, GORGO. I'm sure that would've been a bigger seller than King freaking Kong!
If you can't sell King Kong, Wizard of Oz and Thor...especially THOR, with tons of merchandise and basically FREE advertising, you don't have a friggin' clue what you're doing. I still cry over the fact this Thor kit got scrapped.
