Well at least they finished the Metal Men. Although a Doc Magnus would have been nice.

No Chief from the Doom Patrol though...

Well, sorry I upset you, but I stand by my statement. It was a great line, and it went on for several years, especially if you count the previous Batman and DC Super Heroes lines. Definitely the most extensive DC line at retail ever. Sure DCD has it beat, but the way those things fall apart you can barely call them toys.

I wish the line had gone on for years and years, and I agree, the influx of DC-dictated New 52 designs, and even pre-New 52 stuff like endless Lantern variations hurt both the retail line AND the Matty line.

^No proper Speedy either. Just "Red Arrow"... and a Wally/Kid Flash that was too short.

                  I'd like to have seen:

Earth 2 Robin (red and green)
                  Earth 2 Huntress (classic, obviously)
                  Johnny Thunder and T-Bolt
Vigilante (why not reuse Jonah Hex parts?)
                  Shining Knight
                  Aqualad
                  Speedy
                  Johnny Quick
                  Liberty Belle
Classic Mr. Freeze (not a reuse of the Batman series sculpt. 70s fish-bowl look)
                  Mad Hatter
                  Talia
                  70s Metallo
                  Mxyzptlk

That's just off the top of my head.

i think people were gun shy after mattel dumped all that stuff at big lots for $10. way to reward your matty collector following. :(

Kinda bewilders me when I see collectors blaming Mattel for the DC sub failure. With only the farthest corners of the DCU untouched by DCUC/DCCU/DCCIE, Classics was going to run out of steam eventually, not to mention the fact that 6" figures are all but extinct at retail. Matty was the best possible outlet to continue those figures ( tho even collector-targeted figures like Super Powers Penguin in the Unlimited line clogged pegs), and even then there are only so many who will pony up $30 a pop for C and D-list characters and variants. Sure there are still characters *I* want, but not many who would make me commit to DCCIE in 2014, and I suspect most others felt the same judging by the numbers. Character selection in CIE is arguable sure, but at the end of the day it really was only a matter of time before the cost was going to outweigh the desire/numbers. I'm content in having DCUC - the most expansive and consistent line of DC comics action figures ever, along with the filler CIE gave us, as well as the knowledge that what has been shown for 2014 will most likely make it out somehow (bi-monthly, quarterly, presale, con exclusives).

Blaming them for using the sub model? I may not prefer that method myself as a customer, but I can understand its advantages from a business standpoint. Mattel is foremost a business and the Matty arm of that business unfortunately isn't equipped for the overstock just because I want my Mera. They also want the highest number of guaranteed sales for the most amount of different characters, hence the blind sub model - there just arent strong enough characters left to support that. Again, It doesn't work for everybody, and isnt my preference personally, but unfortunately the alternatives don't work for retail or Matty anymore.

It does suck however that some are still suspicious of how or why a surplus of underperforming second-run MOTUC figures which Matty couldn't get rid of online (including a blowout sale) ended up at Big Lots despite being announced in advance as wholesaled out to free up valuable warehouse space...and the fact that this really has nothing to do with day-of-sale price or CIE, tho it would certainly look suspicious to the uninformed. Not the best timing, I'll give ya that.

But yeah, not the end of DC 6", just DC 6" as we've known it I'm sure.

I don't remember seeing Mattel's sales numbers for the last several waves of DCUC, but I do remember seeing them collecting dust and getting clearanced out around here. If I was Mattel and that's the feedback I was getting from retail (along with decreasing orders I suspect), I'd probably do what they did - relaunch with A-listers from current media to boost sales with moms and kids, and try to find other avenues to keep the smaller target market (collectors) happy. :/ Still didn't get me my Mera unfortunately...but I'm glad my eyes never have to be subjected to the horror of Injustice designs on the shelves again. Just IMHO.

I think ALL the subs would have benefited from a full year's list of what they were going to offer, announced at the same time the sub was opened. Showing 4 figures and saying "trust us" doesn't really work for me, and probably many others. In the recent audio interview on AFI, Toy Guru mentioned how long the figures took in development. If that's the case, they should know which characters are in the pipeline at the beginning of each year. Had they shared that, I think many fans would be less apprehensive on spending their money with them.

By far, this was and will be the most extensive and far reaching line of dc figures that people will ever see. The wish lists I see here are really off the radar for most people, so a sub seems like the only way to see them. Masters of the universe seems to be headed down the same road, but the difference is that those people have no avenue for other forms of their characters because there's no dc direct and the property just isn't the same caliber as dc.
