New Nickelodeon Ninja Turtles Figures

I like the new Splinter...from the neck down. Though I wish he was a bit more articulated. From the neck up, he looks a bit too koi-inspired to me (tho I think the figure has a bit more white in the face than the actual animation model). His face is too white and his ears are too...doggy. I just wish he and April both had slightly tweaked head sculpts, not a big fan of either. His jade staff is cool though, and he does look great with that bow & arrow! -
Without Splinter, the Turtles wouldn't have a purpose in life...

They also wouldn't be ninjas out for blood.

So of course Playmates has brought us a new Splinter to go along with the new Nick Turtles.

He's probably one of the most controversial redesigns (behind April) and he's one of the weaker figures in the entire line. Still I've got the full breakdown over at the usual.

I have a few Kraangs. Don't have too much issue standing them. My best suggestion is not to try too dynamic of a pose with the short foot side. That arm should be at his side or not doing anything wild to help keep balance.
Once you find that sweet spot, he stands pretty good. At least in my experience. Make sure that on that side he is on his toes.Leave a comment:

I'll keep on the lookout...Is there a secret to getting Kraang to stand on his own? I guess it's luck of the draw, but I really wish my opener had come with a stand.Leave a comment:

Ah, ok. It's looking like a lot of the new Nick Turtles is incorporating a nice mix of what's come before. I'm also looking forward to the new Sewer playset, though I honestly don't know where I'm going to put it when I get it.
From the reviews, it also looks to be a successful blend of the Sewer playsets that have come before. I'll reserve judgment til I get it in hand, but it may even be the best yet. Anyway, it's nice to see Playmates taking a chance on a large playset (that's more than a shell of hinged walls), something hardly anyone does these days.
Is anyone seeing Shredder (with cape!?) shipping with the FX turtles? I know he was solicited, but haven't seen him...also kinda wondering why he has a cape and the basic Shredder does not...
Btw, where are you guys finding the Classics? I've been having a lot of success with the Nick Turtles (and have been pleasantly surprised with not only their sculpts, but articulation as well, except for some of the non-turtles' static lower legs), but I haven't spotted the Classics anywhere yet. I'm wary of purchasing online, given the reports of crazy eyes. Any problems with crazy eyes on your Classics?Last edited by Harbingerboy; Aug 3, '12, 10:12 PM.Leave a comment:

When TRU had the pre-order up on their website the shipping date was the 10th of August. So, I'm assuming it should hit TRU stores around the same time. Im really looking forward to it.Leave a comment:

The Kraangs are are a race of beings from Dimension X like Krang was in the classic toon. From what I've read, their backstory is sort of like a mix of Krang from the original TMNT toon and the Utroms from the comic and 2002 animated series.
Questions for anyone in the know...The back of Kraang's packaging refers to Kraang in the plural (ie: a race of extra dimensional aliens called Kraang rather than the one brain-in-the-gut Dimension X guy). I'm familiar with the late 80s toon, and casually familiar with other incarnations (no TMNT lore expert)...Does anyone know Kraang's story in the new Turtles series, and from where if anywhere it's borrowed (comic, 2002, TMNT, etc.)?Leave a comment:

Also, has anyone sighted the Sewer Playset yet? I heard it's a 2012 TRU exclusive but will be everywhere in 2013?Leave a comment:

You guys were right, I managed to find some of Nick's new Turtles (basic line) with great paint apps today...but not all, still looking for a Don & Leo without smudgey lines. I really like the design of the figures (April's melon aside), but I'm not digging the cg animation models on the packaging. The figures look much nicer than the new cartoon IMO.

Having kind of not ventured over here before, I think I'm still pretty happy with my NECA foursome. I wish they'd done more classic characters in that style (Foot soldiers, April, Splinter, Shredder, etc)
For nick, I do kind of dig the new three toe feet, and that they gave them a playmates call-back vibe in weapons and such. The Don head sculpt is kind of appealing to me too.
EDIT - I found out that NECA April was released and slipped past me when I thought the whole wave 2 was cancelled. The internets is magic.Last edited by Tothiro; Jul 30, '12, 6:02 AM.Leave a comment:

Ah, so you're right. I thought that was Mikey's face. I forgot all the sound FX guys have goofy faces.
And here I thought you had something really rare, lol.Leave a comment:

I was lurking the Technodrome forums and noticed you reposted my pic there, which is totally fine, and you might want to correct the description. The figure isn't a variant. It's a normal Raph it was just put on a Mikey package.Leave a comment:

The Power Sound FX figs look to be similar articulation-wise to the 12" SDCC/TRU Exc. figs, which I also saw at TRU a few days ago. For larger display pieces, I thought they were pretty cool at that size, but the FX aren't appealing to me.
Yes! A slight improvement for both versions, IMO. Thank you!!Leave a comment:
