Pros outweigh the cons for me on this line, I'm in for a Cap and Spidey.

I wonder if some simple work can be done to reshape the masks to fit the heads better? I'm talking about eliminating Cap's prominent cheekbones. Maybe run the masks under cold water and hold the cheek areas in?

I like the old school designs of these, and the costumes look great. Spidey is looking very nice. Cap's square head is a bit of a turn-off, but if this can be fixed I'm all about it. Maybe not all of the Steve Rogers have Igor eyes either.

With the exception of the Steve Rogers mask, I'm fine with everything else. I think they do deliver the Captain Action charm. I really love both Captain America and Spiderman masks.

In regards to the heads looking bigger when the masks are worn, that's nothing different from the IDEAL or the PLAYING MANTIS Captain Action lines. Gotta support cloth costumed hero lines in any format or else will remain buried by the 4" and 6" lump of plastic lines...

I think seeing them in person will be the ultimate measure of what I do. Unfortunately I won't get that luxury with the deluxe costumes since they're only selling those online. You make a good point with the Rogers mask possibly being malformed by the packaging. And maybe Michael got a bad one with regards to the paint job. But I would have to see more photos where someone didn't have the mask with those problems. Otherwise I have to assume it's a production issue with all of them. I want this company to succeed because I have always loved the CA line. I bought all of the Playing Mantis stuff when it first came out, as well as all of Castaway's product. And it compliments my vintage figures nicely. And I've even said this line was near the top of stuff I wanted to buy this year after seeing the prototype pictures. So seeing where they fumbled the ball on mask proportions and just general mistakes with short sleeves and a failed paint job on the pricier costume sets disappoints me. If a company is asking me to shell out $30.00 for a costume alone, my expectation is that it fit the $40.00 figure correctly. THAT should be my minimum expectation. So I hope they take these issues seriously and make changes. First impressions are a big deal in this business. The company with their name on the box has to be the pickiest customer in
the lot. So hopefully they are unhappy with the factory results as well and will do something to notify the factory responsible.

My only complaint for these are the oversized masks that make them look like goofy bobbleheads on a 12" body

            THIS WILL AFFECT SALES!

the prototypes showed much smaller in scale masks.I bought a set thinking that was what I was going to get

The costumes are great, the oversized head masks NOT good

I don't really believe in the support the line or it will die even tho the figures suck mentality. For this pricepoint roughly 70 bucks for the figure and a costume it should be perfect.

I was on the fence about these since I don't collect 12" figures. I think I'll wait for the secondary market to pick them up.

Here's quote from the review that confused me a bit:

"Cap has his own red rubber boots, and the deluxe version also has Hawkeye's blue boots, which just so happen to be the same basic sculpt."

If Hawkeye's boots really are blue, then someone goofed, because they should, of course, be purple. I wish Mike had included a pic of the Hawkeye pieces that are included with each set.
I must say, I was really enthused about these sets when they were first announced, but I've cooled a bit on them. I'll probably pick up at least this wave, though, just out of nostalgia (my first action figure toys as a kid were vintage Captain Action figures and costume sets).

I may be in the minority here- but I'm drinking the kool-aid on this one- I'm all in!

I placed my order with Amoktime for their super set which includes 3 C.A and both Spidey and Cap America. I can't wait for all the parts to build Hawkeye- I think all the characters together will be an awesome display.

I wouldn't worry about it. Michael has mentioned being color-blind in other reviews.

No, you're not alone...I'm absolutely flipping over that Spider-Man.
I ordered two of the same bundle sets you did. I decided early on I gotta have one to open and one MIB.

I am pretty good with the costume sets myself. I hope the body upgrade works out for them. I am going to see how these work with the Playing Mantis old skool style bodies. The hands will probably be a bit of a trick, but I am hoping the rest is a good fit.

People worry too much. After the blah poses in the first review I'm not too concerned about the secret identity masks. I'd be surprised if you couldn't get them to look much better by just adjusting them a bit.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

The whole project just seems to not know which way it wants to go. Classic goofy toy or modern update to the classic. New body, but the oversized masks look more like something vintage. They really should have went with interchangeable heads.

This ridiculous claim of the new CA product having a "retro" feel is utter BS when you take a look at the level of detail Ideal put into the figures and accessories 45+ years ago:

I guess these new pieces look good to people who think "vintage" means 1990's-era Toy Biz.

The original CA masks were made of vinyl, and most have held up surprisingly well and fit snugly on the head.
