I had been banking on lower secondary "loose figure" price points on ebay.
With these, the vintage-looking packaging is almost as much a part of the toy as the toy, itself. They just look too cool... that giant figure in a giant vintage package. I'd be surprised if many people buying these would be throwing the packages away. If these were cheaper (around $30 or so), I would imagine more people would just throw the packs away and have fun with them. However, after paying around $75-$80 on each one, I know most people view both the figure and the packaging as partial justification for having spent so much on what, basically, is a cheap blow-molded figure. We're definitely paying for "perceived value" in the case of the Star Wars GG 12" figures.

I tried to avoid now I am hooked

I avoided this line for awhile but I bought a Jawa the other day....now today I picked up Chewbacca. Doesn't look good as far as avoiding the original 12 at least....

Just picked up the SDCC exclusive Blue Snaggletooth and he rocks! You can currently order them from Gentle Giant's site and avoid eBay prices!

Blue Snaggletooth looks as if he's had one too many in the cantina bar...

I have to admit I find myself really wanting to collect these, especially after seeing a bunch of them at a toy show last week, they look really cool. But the prices and space issues are keeping me away, so far.

I ordered one recently from GG and looking forward to it. I also pre-ordered Greedo and Yoda with Orange snake. Greedo and R5D4 are shipping in a couple of months. The Exclusive for Celebration VI is Lando. Also regular Snaggletooth is up for pre-order as well.

The cost does make it rough. I had every intention of collecting this whole line, but gave that up. Now I just pick one up here and there. I only have a few, Stormtrooper, Boba Fett, Death Squad Commander and Blue Snaggletooth. DSC was a gift, and I bought Stormtrooper and Fett when they first came out. I really need to pick up a Vader, and a Jawa and Tusken Raider are high wants. ALL of the cantina aliens will be mine, except maybe red Snaggletooth. I just like the idea of having the original four all displayed together. Can't wait for Greedo and Hammerhead.

Wow you guys make it tough. I have fought off the urge to collect these because of the cost and where the heck would i display them. I want to rebuild my mego collection first but by the time i finish the mego's the SW figs will be beyond expensive. I know if i pick up one it will be on then. I must resist the darkside for now. But wow they look so dang cool.

These are neat. Can you imagine if Gentle Giant were able to do this with Super Powers figures? The mind boggles...

We picked up 2 of the Celebration Boba Fetts 2 years ago. One to keep one to sell/trade. We ended up trading the one Fett for 3 other figures (Luke, Leia & Han) so... well worth the investment and the pain that it was to wait in line at Gentle Giant during that first Celebration.

So far we have (SWCV) Fett, (SDCC) Stormtrooper, Luke, Leia, & Han.

We'd have more if they we less expensive.

I entered that. But judging by the amount of entries, I don't have a snowball's chance.
