The batsuit rubber makes me nervous. I've heard stories of Bale Hot Toys Batsuit sweating oily liquids... So who knows what is happening chemically over time

Exactly. I think I'll be sitting this one out for just that reason. I was hoping HT would "sacrifice" a little aesthetic accuracy and design a hard plastic, articulated Bat-suit body.

I think these things are just too high-priced to have to worry about long-term degradation. I have a Predator figure with dreadlocks that feel like they're made out of foam, and the Dutch figure with the rubbery body. Both look fine right now -- but 3 years really isn't a long enough time to judge. (And I hate that I have to "worry" about it.)

I love the work that Hot Toys does, but I have neither the funds nor the desire to build a UV proof vacuum chamber for something I collect.

yea there's a few i really want to get...I did order the Batman just because that's my favorite suit
but I'd love to get-Drago, That Joker, Perseus , Capt. America(he's probably the best priced one) ,Superman and If i get lucky the Terminator from part 1

yeah i'm starting to realize that if you don't get these when they're first released expect to pay 2-3 times retail...The Leonidas is crazy expensive and so are the Robocops

I dunno man ... I think all the Rocky Figures were Origionally 150 to 175 when they were 1st Solicited.

If you guys do start to see Too Good To Be True prices from sellers in different parts of Asia, note that they have a pretty slick network of Bootlegging going on. Probably best to buy/pre-order from trusted sources.

As I'm deciding on whether or not to pull the trigger on Batman (I'm going to get the Nicholson joker), I decided to do some more research into the leaking oil issue on the Bale version.

One thing that does need to be mentioned here is the ‘oil’ issue! *What is the oil issue? Well, that’s the problem, at the time of me writing this no one is 100% sure where it’s coming from, but around the area of the bottom 2 abdominal plates* people are getting anything from a few light spots of an oily discharge right through to a small slick. It seems to have become the bane of some people’s figures. I’m one of the lucky ones; it is there but on mine is very minimal.

Hot Toys advice so far is to dab or gently rub it away until it stops appearing, but depending on how badly each individual figure is affected, it can mean anything from one wipe every couple of days through to a couple of times a day. I contacted Hot Toys who assured me they are taking the issue seriously and hope to find the solution soon.

HOT TOYS COMEDIAN OIL LEAK

Symptoms : the upper back part of the suit leaks oil and melts.
This oil comes as a result of the rubber suit not curing long enough and breaking down.
The problem hits boxed and exposed figures alike.
If you have not yet the problem, it's just a matter of time.
My suit is fine, only a small ammount of oil to be seen. For now.
The figure has been released a year ago and people just start to notice the problem.
