So I just saw these 4 pack Blue Ray Star Wars figure boxes. Am I the only one whose interest in Star Wars figures has been getting smaller and smaller? I have been getting the Vintage Packaged stuff the last one that meant anything to me was General Lando. That being said I saw the Blue Royal guard and I didnt even get it. I have no idea what's what with the Clone Wars, tho I was happy to buy young Boba Fett. My wife won't let me buy the oversized Classic Gentle Giant stuff and I don't feel like putting up a fight for it.

Enjoy what you like, and let others enjoy what they like. (C) Azrak 2009

I gave up on Star Wars toys around 2001 or 02. just could not get into it anymore, they were repackaging previous figures nd calling them new(still are) and just putting out the same characters in new poses and what have you. how many Luke Skywalker figures do kids need for crying out loud? or collectors even for that matter. they have continuously made figures for 16 years now. that is a damn good run for any toy line. maybe it's time they cut back and just market toys for kids again.Comment

The market for Star Wars stuff pre-1997 “Special Editions” was intense. Vintage stuff sold for decent $$$ and the market was simpler to understand. Now it’s saturated past belief. Between the retro vintage stuff and just the tons of stuff being pumped out that nobody asked for, I can’t care. And all I ever cared about was the vintage stuff! The Gentle Giant retro large size stuff looks conceptually interesting, but whatever. My fond memories of collecting Star Wars stuff was when I was a kid and it was genuinely hard to track down the first 12 figures. Now I can’t find the energy to care.Comment

I had pretty much stopped playing with toys by the time the SW figures and playsets hit the shelves in 1978, and I never collected them as an adult. It has only been in the past few weeks that I've started picking up some of the mid/late 90's POTF2 figures because they're dirt cheap. MOC/MIB stuff in lots on Ebay for less than $2.00 per figure, and that includes S&H.
I've been putting off buying a Vader with removable helmet because I can't find him cheap enough.
The prequel figures are inexpensive too.
I can remember the hoarders, speculators, and resellers in ToysRUs, filling their buggies full of this stuff. Definitely not a wise investment.Comment

It continues to suck in the kids though. One thing all my son's friends agree on is that they like Star Wars. And it doesn't matter if it's the original trilogy, the prequels, or the Clone Wars TV series.
Some think Bakugan is lame. Some think Pokemon is lame. Some think WWE is lame. But they all like Star Wars.

the SW collectors can be rabid and many will still buy every version and varient. The kids rotate and recycle by age so there is always a need for the core characters. hasbro has done a good job in making long time collectors happy with retro nods and articulatioon whil keeping the product kid freindly.
I am so happy that SW is still around becuase now I get to play with my kids with something that was so important to me as a kidComment

I pretty much just collect the original vintage Kenner SW items, adding stuff to my collection that I wanted as a kid, but could never get hold of for various reasons.
I did buy some of the McQuarrie concept figures from the 30th anniversary, and I've picked up a few of the recent Vintage Collection... just couldn't resist the retro Kenner style packaging, which I still think is by far the most aesthetically pleasing of all the card designs.PUNY HUMANS!Comment

I enjoy looking at them on the store pegs. $9.99 is too much. I don't feel a need to "collect them all". I just can't afford it, though, I did buy a Dack for $4.If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.Comment

Back around '93, when I bought my house, I was going to pickup a few vintage (or new 'retro' electronic sound) toys for a small 'Empire' Hoth display.. Ended up giving what I had away to another collector.
No fan interest in the franchise after seeing 'Return' whatsoever.. It just soured everything for me.
I'll pick up a few nice vintage items like studio photos, lobby cards from the first movie here and there, that's it.Peace.. Through Superior Firepower.
