Why are you bringing my thread down?

I was just trying to help out the other Smurf collectors. You can ask for individual Smurfs by name or the number on the packages. They don't even make you buy the Happy Meals or any food to get them.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

No kidding... megocrazy's McD's must be run by a bunch of loons.

How much are they selling them for if you don't pick up the happy meal?

          I think a $1.80 a piece.

I picked up a couple sets on Saturday for myself and then tried to pick up a handful of individual numbers for friends today - several of the McD's in my area have sold out of half their numbers already, telling me people are buying these up like crazy.

Also, the TRUs in my area blew through their first shipments of Jakks product over the weekend. Smurfette seems to be a big hit with little girls!

I saw the movie tonight and thought it was very cute and funny, great for kids and parents both. It was much better than other cgi toon remakes IMO, lots of fun.

Speaking of Jakks' movie Smurfs, I noticed something regarding TRU's stock and Target's stock. TRU seems to only be carrying the 2-packs, whereas Target has the 2-packs as well as the single-pack "grab-ems." TRU's 2-packs also differ in having an "Escape from Gargamel" tagline under the Smurfs logo on the front package - a few packs also contain translucent blue Smurfs (?). Other than that, there is no difference, and as such it really doesn't make sense why some 2-packs have the "Only at Toys R Us" sticker - the only exclusivity being the words "Escape from Gargamel"...?

The plush also won me over, though I couldn't decide between the standard or bean-bag plush, so I picked up both. The bean-bags seem more movie-scale-accurate despite being shorter than three apples high. The slightly larger plush however are a bit more detailed/better looking IMO.

Other new Smurfs on the way...

Wave 2 Basic "Grab Ems" single-pack figures -
                  -Jokey
                  -Handy
                  -Chef
                  -Farmer
                  -Papa 2.0

Wave 3 Basic "Grab Ems" single-pack figures -
                  - Hefty
                  - Baker
                  - Greedy
                  - Painter
                  - Clumsy 2.0
                  - Smurfette 2.0

Vanity & Panicky are only available (as of yet) in wave 2 of the 2-packs. Wave 3 of the 2-packs list a "Lemon Smurf" and "Smurf" as well, whoever they are. No word on Crazy Smurf, Narrator Smurf or Passive-Aggressive Smurf.

There are 2-3 more playsets planned (a couple way-out-of-scale NYC-related sets and a "Smurf Village"/mushroom house) in addition to the current 2 that are out.

Finally, Wave 2 of both the basic plush and bean-bag plush include Brainy & Grouchy to round out the movie's main six.

EDIT: And for those interested, here's a size comparison shot with Schleich's Classic Smurfette, Jakks Pacific Movie Smurfette in the center and McDonald's Movie Smurfette at right...

Picked up 5 Smurf figures from 3 different McDs. Still on a quest for Papa Smurf and of course Smurfette. I have daughters so she's been a must have. Came out to $1.69 per figure in my City.

With the response to these I wouldn't be surprised if McD's does another promotion when the DVD hits, if they have time to get something together, or anticipated this response.

As for eating at McD's...you know they do have salads and grilled chicken sandwiches, right? You don't have to eat Big Macs anymore.

Well, after a couple visits to different locations on the way to doing errands and going back and forth to work my family and I landed an entire set. Needless to say my kids are having a ball with these. I must say I am amazed at the quality of the toys. My wife found two of her childhood Smurfs and her little brother is planning to look for some of the others she had. Who'd have thought the Smurf toys at McDs would be bigger and subjectively better than the one's people have to pay for in toy stores? I haven't bought my kids a Happy Meal in ages so I was surprised McD's was packing good toys again. I used to brag about how when I was a kid I had cool toys showing up in my Happy Meals like Playmobil and Little Golden Books.

McDonalds is like any other public place where I live. There are workers who are happily willing to go the extra mile and find the toys you lack and then there are the lazy slackers, who, though not at all busy find it a chore to service their customers, whether you want food or not.

Just came back from watching the movie. I enjoyed it quite a bit... but I'm biased.

                          I'm a Smurfs fan.

                              For all your smurfing needs...

Especially if you're looking into picking up smurfy items for your kids, might I suggest:

Pete's a good guy, and his stock is pretty decent.
