Ok, ran an errand to Walmart today and hit the toy isle. They had all the new toys out for the Captain America The First Avenger Movie. Pretty much the standard stuff - 3 3/4" fgures, figures on cycles/quads, play shields and masks, etc. One thing that did catch my eye was the 3 3/4" Captain America Parachutist figure, which I thought was kinda cool. It reminded me of the ones from the 70's I used to have.

I saw that today and almost snagged one, myself. I was looking at the figures, though, and all of them were "Comic Series" or something. Even though they had the movie logo, they weren't figures based on the movie, or so it seemed.Comment

The Thor and Cap stuff really makes the Mattel GL product look pathetic. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie BanksComment

What is wrong with my Walmart? They're still trying to sell Transformers 2 and Iron Man and its like they refuse to put out anything else until they're gone and it's not going to happen!!
Oh wait, they got a ton of Thor they'll never sell too.Comment

The Walmart I saw the new Cap stuff at also had put out the new Transformers 3 toys as well. It seems all our Walmarts here are doing a summer reset in the toy isle. Iron Man 2 and Thor toys are most plentiful.sigpic WANTED: Boxed, Carded and Kresge Carded WGSHComment

Finding toys is no longer like it used to be. Walmart and Target specifically have really cut back on stock. And... with the super high prices most toys are now who can blame them?
I've seen all the new Thor, GL (Note Big GL fan here), and the Captain America figures and toys and have passed on them all... and I mean ALL. Way too pricey, and Mattel's quality just blows.
For me this is the moment in time I've been waiting for. A number of great reasons, or developments, to really start cutting back on what I buy, and maybe get busy towards purging a lot of my, 35 years of collecting, stuff. I'll still buy items that jump out at me, and the rare White Whales when I find them, but the lack of product in general and prices have really left me cold towards the hobby of toy collecting.
Thanks for letting me rant.

I thought it was interesting that the four figures that my local TRU got in the 3 3/4" scale were all actually based on the comic books rather than the movie, despite the movie packaging.
Still pretty cool though. Ultimate Cap, WW2 Ultimate Cap, Bucky-Cap, Classic Cap. looking forward to the other non-cap figures in the line, like Crossbones, Skull, and USAgent.Comment

I saw the first of these at our local Wal-Mart, which astonished me. They are always behind on this stuff. Saw Ultimates WWII Cap, Ultimates Cap, regular Cap, and several others including the awesome Cap with the parachute. The Hummer-like vehicle came with a figure that looked to be based on the movie version.
It was cool to see GL, Thor and Cap movie toys on the peg like that. Kind of reminded me of the Super Hero heydays of the 70s.
Oh, and just to stay somewhat consistent, the only DCUC figures this Wal-Mart had are a Mr. Miracle and 2 Killer Moths!!!

The Walmart I saw the Cap stuff had completely removed their DCUC. It was no where to be found. That sucks cause I'm still missing 3 from Wave 16 and all of GL Wave 2 and half of Wave 1.sigpic WANTED: Boxed, Carded and Kresge Carded WGSHComment

I struck out at my Walmart. I saw a few of the Cap figures and they look great, I just had my heart set on Crossbones and The Red Skull today. I was also peeved to not find ANY Marvel Universe figures at all. They had tons of the Thor and Iron Man 2 here too.Comment

My Walmart did away with DCUC the last reset. Yesterday they had the papers hanging along the aisle for the new reset and i saw three pegs slotted for DCUC again! That's great because i found my wave 13, 14, and 15 there.... then poof, they were gone. I can't imagine it was because they weren't moving them. Oh well, looks like they will be back!Vintage Toy Rescue
