    Fed up with Mattel

I think I've just about had it with Mattel. Since the middle of last year they have made a lot of bad moves that has led me to lose faith in the company as a whole.
Strike 1: The release of the Mego-esque figures.
The excitement I had when I saw these in the package was quickly dash away when I opened it up and realized that it was a flimsy $20 rip-off. Usually, when someone brings a style back, they make it better, not make a thing that's even more useless than other useless pieces of plastic that I collect. Although I know that people collect and keep figures in packages, I think that Mattel forgot that a good number of collectors take their stuff out of for display (that's what she said).

Strike 2: The Masters of the Universe Classics Series.
This was another thing that was a major let down not completely because of the figures themselves (although there are some loose joints here and there). The real problem was, and still is the lack of availability of these. They basically discourage a lot of people from getting a chance to purchase these unless it's through an online sale. A real insult to injury is that unless you're part of their little club thing you can't get certain figures... and they only allowed the chance to join this club about a couple years ago, but for people like me, who only found out about this series about half a year ago, It's impossible, unless you by it through someone on ebay who jacks the price up to an unfair price. That goes the same with the GhostBuster figures.

Strike 3: The over all flimsiness of the recent DC universe figures.
This only happened last week. I picked up the Low/Maash figure from the GL series. The torso was loose, and the price was outrageous. Stores have been slowly jacking up prices of these from $10 up to now $18, and the quality is getting worse. Needless to say, I got my money back.

So there are my reasons why I'm not going to buy from Mattel anymore. They have shown their true colors as a heartless toy company. Let me know if anyone else feels this way.

Oh yah, and that Matty collector mascot design just adds to it, with that mocking, duesh-bag smirk of his. It just ****es me off even more....

    Sorry for the rant.

Not a rant it speaks the truth I had a guy that was picking up the MOTUC figures for me at cost then he started charging me crazy prices (Sorta like E-Bay) whatever happened to people helping out? Anyway selling figures on line is pretty lame especially since they know they sell out everytime...

You Know ... They Do Have Thier own forum.

I Myself was Also real Frustrated with the Marketing And Avalibility of the MOTU Classics. I love the figures, I had Everyone from He-man to Battle Cat ..., Then all of a Sudden, it was almost as if you couldn't even get 1, unless you had a Subscription.

The last few Months, .. I've been able to get the new 1's I want Online ..., It Hasn't been very hard, Which I also question how many other quit, or were Frustrated into quiting, just paying for the Subscription, or getting them elsewheres. I am Sure That King Hiss will be a Pain next week.

I've never, ever Had an Issue thus far with the Quality of the DC Universe Classics. The Greatest Action figures in that Formate Ever, Period imo. I just picked up all of Wave 2 of the Lantern Guys, But Sapphire so far..., and they are Incredible.

For those that are frustrated with the whole Ma"shell" game just be patient. The most of these will be easily found in a year or two once all of the fizz wears off. Kind of like when the Starting Line Up's died off.

I agree that the format is great, It's just that stores are over pricing them, and I payed too much for one with loose joints... Just bugs me is all

It does seem as if with OnLine Stores like BBTS ..., It's just cheaper to get the whole set with them ..., as well as some sets on Ebay.

Masters of the Universe Classics is the easiest toyline to collect out there. Try collecting DCUC at retail...now THAT'S a joke.

Get a MOTUC subscription. Simple as that. You don't miss a single figure, and if one comes along you don't want, you can easily sell it for as much or even more than you paid for it, because every figure sells out.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE getting new figures delivered right to my door every month. With gas at $3.59 a gallon, I don't need to drive around from one TRU to another trying to beat the scalpers, and most of the time coming home empty handed.

The sub exclusives are really easy to pick up on Ebay also. I bought an extra Preternia Disguise He-man for $35 shipped. It was originally $28 shipped from Matty.

Not true...I just found an auction for Toybiz figures...The Diecast ones. You know...the ones that absolutely sucked as a kid and I didn't even buy any...They are going for $5 a figure! I couldn't believe it. Same with everything I am into. Some ******* on Ebay is selling the MU figures for $11 each. It's like the bad economy made prices go up not down.

Well that's fine and dandy for you, but my point is that they don't provide that ability to sign up for club eternia anymore, or any other exclusive club for that matter. you could only do it when the line started. pretty lousy in my opinion.

Club Eternia subscription sign ups are held once a year. Matty puts up notices on their site way in advance for the subscription and the sign up lasts several weeks.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

Actually they do. You can sign up every year. 2012 subs will be offered during the week of SDCC this year.
You just sound really bitter because you missed a few figures...well, that's life. If you join the game late with ANY line, you're going to have to play catch-up.

Can you name another toyline that reissues previously released figures so you can complete your collection? I can't.

Everyone has their own opinions but I actually am very pleased overall with what Mattel has done. I have subscribed to Club Eternia every year so I haven't missed any of the MOTUC figures.

I also have not had any quality issues with the DCU or the WWE line. My only problem is trying to find these in retail but after hitting various forums I am able to trade or buy them for as much if not cheaper than retail.

I don't collect the Retro WGSH line so I can't speak for the quality but considering that many 3 3/4 inch figures are selling for $9.99 or more, $20.00 for an 8 inch figure isn't too bad.

My big issue is distribution. Wave 1 of DCUC was at Walmart where I live. I got Batman and then they sold out. I waited for more to come and they never did.

Then I found a bunch on clearance at Winners of all places. So I got what I could.

The only ones I EVER saw at Toys R Us were 2 packs. Batman/Clayface and Superman/Brainiac.

Its usually conventions or from some of the nice people here that I'm able to get the characters I want.

I did see Wave 2 of Retro at Toys R Us which is pretty cool. Wont likely see any more. lol. I think it was a fluke they came to Canada at all.

I wanted to collect Ghostbusters but they sold out so fast. I did get a Venkman with Slimer.

I don't much care for He-Man. I never really did. My brother was more into it then I.

I think mattel should have the DC licence taken away from them because of their poor distribution. I have no trouble finding Marvel/Star Wars/Transformers/GIJOE from Hasbro. I would think they should get the licence back for that reason alone. I don't know how Mattel makes any money.

If they were smart, they would divide their new sales on the website into several days. A day for each line of product. It would avoid all the trouble that comes from everyone logging in at one time.
