As far question at hand, I love the new retro SW figures since the VOTC line started up 2-3 years ago.

I have HATED all the packaging the SW figures have been in since 1995, everything is lame, poor design, no heart or soul put into it, boring, just plain sucks, stupid, they have no SW feel to it, lousy **** poor graphics that looks like some out collage hack messed around with on photo-shop, did I mention how I HATED the packaging?

The new retro cards ARE SW and the only figures I will buy from now on. I have not bought a SW figure in years, and sold most I had bought from '95-00, until the new retro cards have arrived a few years ago.

I will NOT get any of the prequil retro carded crap, that is not SW and it never will be to me.

I've had the same dilemma. I have so many versions of certain characters it's ridiculous and the increased price is a deal breaker. I saw these last night and walked away.

Count yourselves lucky. In the UK, the new AT-AT is £ 130 GBP, which is about $ 200 USD.

In my opinion the ONLY positive aspect of repro items is the effect it has on the prices of the originals. If I don't have one then I can afford one or get one much cheaper once a fake has been made.
As far as the retro-toys themselves; they generally are broken and thrown in the trash while a vintage example of the same thing keeps on ticking. 9 times out of 10 a vintage item will outlast it's modern doppelganger.

yeah and top that off with £7.99 for the figures and £8.99 for the vinatge ones in TRU in the Uk and they wonder why this syuff sits on a shelf for ages plus a lot of the vintage are reissues or "kitbashes" can anyone say rip off.

There are a lot of vintage reissue toys out there that are reasonable in price but the 4 inch stuff from hasbro and all the others are way over priced I liked my figures more toy like like back in the day and I don't need 2o million POA to enjoy them give me 5 to 8 and I'm happy

                Hmmmm....

On the up-side, you can usually find them cheap a few months after release. I got a whole squad of them new super-posable Stormtroopers off ebay for about $2 each.

This is very true. This is why I like to sit back and wait. While the others are beating themselves over the head trying to get the new stuff out of fear of loss I just sit back and wait it out.

Makes one wonder how many times we have to go down the same path...

Just as a couple of examples. All of which are no longer sought after like they once were when they were "new". The list goes on and on.

I love the new Vintage Hasbro figures. But I've been a diehard SW collector since the line began with Kenner.

I'd rather kids have new retro GI Joes to play with instead of Pokeman. Also, means the cartoons are less annoying.

But, I can't figure out how that terrible Superhero Squad got optioned. That is just lousy...
