    Hasbro's new AT-AT rocks HARD!!!!!!!

When I was a kid, I was SUPER-EXCITED to get a Kenner AT-AT for my collection. But this new (much larger and more accurate) Hasbro version would have made my brain explode, I think!

This thing TOWERS over the vintage Kenner version! Nearly 2-1/2 feet long, just over 2 feet tall, and 12 inches wide!

    Ho-LEE CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a cool toy! I never had the original but I always wanted one. Now I want the new larger one.

Wait a minute! I thought that the new AT-AT was not coming out until the fall?

$99.99 is what I believe they said at Toy Fair. $50 cheaper than the Millenium Falcon. Kind of a high price, but often times after Christmas Target will deep-discount these things. Of course, holding out for the discount you may end up missing out. I got the Target exclusive Rancor which was originally $60 for $12 not too long ago! The At-At, looks like it's going to be worth the $100 asking price. Now if Hasbro will just do a new Deathstar and Jabba's Sailbarge I'll be in Heaven, or the doghouse when my wife sees the bank statement.

No, no, no. Guys! I do NOT own this new AT-AT yet. Geez, I WISH!

No, I got this photo from another website. Apparently, Hasbro sent an AT-AT to a magazine correspondent so that he can write a review. The guy assembled the toy and shot this comparison photo with the vintage Kenner AT-AT.

The new Hasbro Super Deluxe AT-AT (as it is being called) will retail for $99.99 and it will arrive in stores on August 1st.

The AT-AT will be released in the new blue Clone Wars design packaging. (feh)

HOWEVER in honor of the "Vintage Collection" line of STAR WARS toys that are being released this summer (to celebrate last week's 30th Anniversary of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK), the AT-AT is also being released in vintage-style packaging that will be exclusive to Toys R Us. (yes!)

I know I'm insane. But I am currently selling off my small fleet of mint vintage AT-AT's (5 of them) and Snowspeeders (8 of them) to start a "Battle of Hoth" Fund. With this money, it is my intent to purchase 5 of the new Hasbro AT-ATs, and an all-new fleet of the new Hasbro Rebel Snowspeeders (which have correctly been made smaller and more detailed than vintage Kenner version).

August cannot get here fast enough!

Yup! Evidently, Hasbro is bringing back their "Vintage Collection" style packaging for their 30th anniversary EMPIRE STRIKES BACK action figure offerings (Re: Hoth Leia, Bespin Luke, Hoth Han, Cloud Car Pilot, 4-LOM, Darth Vader, AT-AT Commander, C-3PO, Dack, etc.).

These figures will be sold on card backs that bring back the vintage Kenner style from the late 70's - mid 80's!

And as a further tribute to that vintage Kenner style, Hasbro is putting together packaging for the new AT-AT (and for the new Rebel Snowspeeder and Cloud Car too!) that will be done in the vintage Kenner style as well.

Obviously, the photography on these boxes will feature the new Hasbro versions of these toy vehicles and action figure characters. But the vehicles will be posed in tribute to the original photography for the original vintage toys... complete with the Empire Strikes Back logo!

I'm tellin' ya... It's gonna be an expensive summer for me!

I new about the figures and vehicles but is the AT-AT going to be in vintage packaging only for Toys R' Us and in the new blue packaging everywhere else? Or is the AT-AT exclusive just to Toys R' Us?
